  4. British Experience on Internet Revives Public Libraries · · Score: 1

Today the BBC also broadcast a report about library usage. Seems that the more affluent the population gets, the less they are to rely on community services like libraries. (They already have their own 300 PCs and Internet connections at home so don't need to come in for that, they can have the convenience of buying books (new and used) off the Internet at knock down prices) and they don't have to worry about opening hours.)

Wi-Fi speakers! This is what we need! Then I can plug my speakers into the mains sockets on the other sides of the room and not trip up over the speaker cables when I go back to where I keep my PC! (okay..maybe bluetooth or wireless usb should also be considered)

Is it technically possible to use the fingerprints as a cryptographic key that allows a card reader to decrypt information electronically stored on a chip? Then by comparing what is printed on the card against what the card reader reports is stored on the card wouldn't we then be able to determine if the card was legitimate or not? (And then if it was really important, couldn't the information be compared with what is stored back at the Federal datacentre?)

No it wouldn't deal with professional spies or members of sophisticated terrorist organisations, but it would stop the common criminals and the like from getting fake ID at the photocopy bureau. Wouldn't it?

  7. This is very distressing on Another Fan-Made TRON Costume · · Score: 1

Yes, even though I read these comments warning me about what I was going to be looking at I thought I'd take a peek at the site. Very distressing! Fetish wear is one thing that in most cases I approve of, nudism too... but an adult dressing up in the costume from Tron (or any other sci-fi character) when he's NOT drunk?? He needs to redeem himself with humanity by wearing that costume to a proper pub crawl with his mates. That is the only place for a costume like that. (also if he can be arrested for urinating against the bar while drunk that would also be good)

I always thought it would be beter just to shrink the camera, and transmitter/receiver so they are small enough to be carried by an insect (maybe a wasp or a locust) and let the insect carry the equipment around. Then the operator could provide sensory stimulus to the insect by radio feedback, and direct it (forward, backward, left, right, up down). Then there is no power supply to worry about (power drawn from the insect's own potentials or maybe peizo electric from the wing flapping) and the insect can refuel itself by visiting flowers/ jam sandwiches or enemy picnics.

So, heres a possibly nutty idea.. maybe instead of buying their own disks, would it be possible that GMAIL will be borrowing from file sharing technology and saving several copies of all our emails across a peer to peer network of users? 13. Re:look at it this way on Epson's Female Printer · · Score: 1

Not really.. women by and large have longer hair then men, so will need hair products targetted at the care of longer hair (but all you long haired dudes like to use the tangle-free conditioner), women tend to have smaller feet (and feminine fashion is different to masculine fashine) so yes socks for women is sensible too, men tend not to menstrate so I guess its reasonable for them women to have panty liners and tampons (while men don't) and women have thinner skin than women (so are more sensitive to touch than men.. so its reasonable for them to have gentler tissues than men) However paper for printing different for women than for men? Different computer systems? Different software? How is the way women use printers going to be different from the way men use printers?
