Hey kids, how about just reading ANY book, banned or no.

Start with one, if you like it try another. With the amount of material out there, you will eventually find something that they like. If you have a tough time trying to start, here's two authors for you: Steven Brust and Neil Gaiman (and not just the comic books).

Read more, become eduacted, think for yourself. You'll be happier when you do.

I may just be a tad cynical in my old age, but I don't see the corporations of America revitalizing the planet until there is a clear profit in doing so. Even the general "slap on the wrist" fines that offenders receive for polluting hardly stem the tide when costs for ridding themselves of waste properly are "too high".

OK, off of my soapbox, bank to the cynicism.

If there was a new planet to colonize -and- it had natural resources to exploit I could see the corps pulling up stakes on Earth and running roughshod on New Terra.

I would like to note the use of your phrase "had a choice".

In today's world of Win98, you -need- to have IE installed to install the versions available of Office (Offie98 and beyond) and ZoneAlarm. While there are other choices availabale that do -not- require IE, they are the popular programs that most end users know.

[Oddly enough, you can remove IE after a ZoneAlarm install and lose no functionality of the firewall. It just needs to be present during the install].

    It's for the games.

It is also the -only- reason why I still have a Windoze partition on my system. I am addicted to my old games, and some of the new ones that are currently on the market. Everything else is covered by Linux.

For those of you chomping at the bit to mention the words Wine, WineX, or other equivalent, please look at my name and start from there. I am accomplished at undertanding/troubleshooting Windose. It breaks frequently so I have to learn it to troubleshoot it and I have been working with it for quite some time.

When I install something under Linux, I never again have a problem. My system is older, and Linux works (and is supported) well. If I have a conflict I readily admit I either either make a phone call or send out an email, but I am still new. This is an entirely new sandbox for me to play in.

But that is the functionality side of the coin. When I want entertainment, I'm still chained to offerings that are only available for Windows.
