Well, the intial comment was in reguards to online royalties, so that break down doesn't really apply. Even still, its disturbing that you find it "fair" that the label makes more profit than the artist who created the music. ($1.60 vs. $1.70)
That isn't what I meant.. I just want to draw the direct correlation between more users on the net, and attacks like this increasing. They are one in the same, and I think moreover that "late adopters" of the internet are more likely to fall prey to those kinds of "phishing" attacks. I love explaining jokes!:0]
This is a great example of what companies do when a product nears the end of its life-cycle. Get as much money out of your current client base as you can before moving on to the "next big thing."
I seem to recall an article from a few years ago about a professor at FSU who had made THC producing oranges, and was shut down when he distributed the seeds to other researchers. Would google this up to verify, but that kind of search doesn't look so good at work:0] (then again, reading slashdot doesnt' either)
This is a major plus for Nintendo if it is the case that PSP doesn't launch until late 2005. Not because the DS will be established in the market by then, but because Nintendo will just be putting the finishing touches on the DS "sp" which will play DS games and bring the platform to PSP quality graphics for new games. Either way, Sony will be in some trouble launching so late.
Great point. I had digital cable with all the bells and whistles, EOD, etc. Once I got TiVo, I noticed 99% of the shows I set it to record were on regular cable, and having 8 HBO's doesn't mean much when TiVo can get the same movies when they play on HBO1 at 4 in the morning. EOD was alright, but I'd much rather have a movie for an extended period of time to watch whenever I want, and still have the pause/ffwd benefit of EOD. Essentially, my cable bill went from 100+ a month, down to 50 or so, and I get the same content minus a few esoteric channels on digital cable.
If you were separated from your hiking partners, I wouldn't rely on Bluetooth anything to stay in touch. Just not enough range to be practical at all for that kind of use.
How is this a "major narrowing of the online music market" when all the same players still exist, new stores open left and right, and one simply has a new owner?
How does RealNetworks intend to combat foreign MP3 sites which offer downloads at aprox. 5-10 cents per song, in DRM-free formats such as mp3search.ru and others?
I have a buddy who works for the City of Norfolk, VA. He tells me they use a system like this with water tanks that they cool during off-peak hours of power-usage to save electricity costs. Apparently the system is very efficient, and if it is efficient when we also have to cool the water, something tells me this system should work well.
yes.
AOL has been losing customers like crazy - in this case, they just have an alternate reason to leave!

"U2 and Interscope will split a standard royalty for each song downloaded (about $0.60 per download), plus an upfront licensing fee."
Good to know SOMEBODY is getting something approaching a (more) fair cut of online royalties...

Number of Idiots On the Internet To Increase...
Can we ad the borg implants to the Google logo yet?
I love ideas that make me feel like I got less than my money's worth AFTER THE FACT!
Guess they're using one to run the webserver!
is just waiting to kill himself on one of these things!
"Tulga Games has made a very exciting offer to purchase the assets of Artifact Entertainment."
When you're in bankruptcy, you'd better believe an offer is exciting!

Yeah.. When an artist gets more than 10% of the purchase price at iTunes and the like, we'll talk about "plenty of alternatives."

Lets keep in mind this is Canada we're talking about. They actually care about hockey up there!

Can we go just one business day without some mishap in the Google IPO? Just one? Pretty please?
