    Arizona's position on Daylight Saving Time is enlightened, and we should all follow their shining example.

    Enlightened isn't the word. Arizona avoids going on Daylight savings time to thumb it's nose at the Federal Government.

    At the same time, the Navajo Nation in Arizona thumbs it's nose at the Arizona State Government by going on daylight savings time

    Let's see if I have this right.

    1. Clueless user gets rid of old Windows PC
    2. Clueless user installs or has installed the same old software he had.
    3. Still clueless user continues same behaviors he was doing, only on a new computer.
    4. New computer becomes infested or otherwise hosed up.
    4. Repeat.

    One of the definitions of insanity is repeatedly doing the same behavior and expecting different results.

    The problem is not linux, it is manufacturer support. Windows is actually much worse than most linux distro's, but because the manufacturer supports the laptop, it (usuallly!) works fairly well. If they gave the same support to linux it would work just fine.

    In the end, it doesn't matter why it doesn't work. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. Someone looking for a ready to use desktop system generally isn't interested in excuses.

    Linux isn't a desktop OS. No matter what people say, that's not its purpose. With that in mind, people shouldn't be moving to it with the desktop OS mentallity.

    Relax, it's not like there is only one copy of Linux in the world. It is actully possible for people to do things you do not approve of with Linux while you do what you want to do with Linix.

    State income tax should be simple nation wide form to determine what percentage of your income is taxed by which state. For the majority of people that would be 100% of their state tax due be sent to their state of residence. others would adjust based on where they lived and where their money was earned.

    For most people it be send x% of the amount you paid the feds to your state gumnt.

    I believe a few states do this now.

    That is unlikely to happen though. Taxes are used to control behavior and tremndously large buerocracies hve been built up in states areound collecting income tax. You would have to drive a stake through the state tax parasites to simplify state taxes.

    Hmmm, methinks a lack of such doubts would be a far more serious threat in a democracy.

    Since it's powered by inductive coupleing, not RFID, it's in the same category as my Sonicare toothbrush, except the toothbrush is more advanced.

    The toothbrush has a battery that is inductively recharged when it's sitting in it's base.

    I have used the toothbrush over 6,000 miles from it's base which is amore useful range than the 2 inch range of the mouse.

    A wireless mouse with a battery that got recharged when you left it on the mouse pad but didn't have to be near the mousepad to work would actually have some utility. They need to add a battery.

    All this worry about passengers privacy.

    What about showing a little pity for the poor TSA scanner operators that have to look at nekkid airline passengers all day. Have you taken a good look at what the average passenger looks like?

    Another thought on airport security. Every time airline passengers have to take off their shoes at a security check, they and the TSA emplyees should be thankful that the shoe bomber didn't have his explosives hidden up his ass.

    I suppose it's inevitable, though. Programming, especially of the bad, lazy or bloated variety, always seems to expand to fill and tax whatever hardware is available to it.

    Linux desktop foo-foo isn't far behind.

    That's the same "social contract" that I have evidently been violating for years when I toss ad section from my newpaper without looking at them and rip annoying multi page add inserts out of print magazines and toss them without reading them.

    News flash to advertisers: If your ads suck and annoy me, count on them not getting read. Make your ad noticable, but not an annoyance and if it's for something I have an interest in, I may read it.

    His job is to take his boss solutions, not problems.

    Tell him what in that report what you think is worth fixing and why and how much it would cost and tell him what you think isn't worth fixing and why and how much you will save by not fixing things that don't need fixing.

    If the security check was a waste of company money and your time, make recommendations on how to do/get a security check more effectively next time. Might be best to not say it was a complete waste of money, since your boss may have been involved in buying the security check.
