From your home directory, enter the.mozilla/firefox/*.default folder; then with vim open compreg.dat, and search for the string: "idn-service;1" (use the / function). Change the 1 to 0 in both the strings you find. Now, restart Firefox.
The url will still appear spoofed at the bottom-left corner of the browser, but if you click on the proof-of-concept link it won't work.

Thank god my ip address is not in the logs that he gave the MPAA.
I don't think he will answer, but from his profile you can see when he is online, and you can send him a message asking him what's going to happen to that donation you made for the lawsuit. A normal e-mail address is supplied, too.
P.S, for some reason, sometimes YAHOO says the page doesn't exist... if this is the case, try google's cache =)
Imagine that a big asteroid is going to hit the Earth in a few years. Now, imagine the only way to survive is to leave the Earth. Now, imagine who can afford to do such a thing... Now, imagine that to avoid global panic governments decide not to disclose the issue.
I guess this is too far fetched, but something tells me that because of the software they'll be running, once they take off they won't be going too far... especially after everybody discovers what they're up to =P
I wonder why the hell did they decide not to add a microphone jack... Maybe for aesthetical reasons, or are they planning on selling USB mikes?

Well, my take of this is that most people are already sick of hearing the same crappy and ridiculous jokes over and over again. You must be pretty pissed that all those useless comments aren't modded up to +5, huh? Heh, I'm sorry, but most people seem to have common sense, something you lack....
it's not surprising they didn't fix it yet...

A guy named Goatse Giver is chosen as the leading actor for the sequel: "Titanic II - a different ending", and all the teens around the globe start googling for this new actor.
Man, reading the whole thing almost made me sick... Poor guy, I really hope he gets cured soon, and I also home his health insurance is covering it all...
Yup, I searched for my name, and I found it in lots of keyservers, that show all the e-mail addresses of the people in my keychain.... say hello to SPAM =)
In Italy we have FASTWEB, that gives us a 10mbit connection, half duplex, for 85 euros a month (unlimited national phone calls included). The problem, though, is that they NATTED our asses!!! We don't have public IPs, only private IPs (many users connect with one IP). This way, our connection is great for surfing/downloading, but we are in deep s#!t when it comes to setting up a web server, an ftp server, connecting to game servers.... this is because we cannot accept inbound connections. The only ways out:
1) pay 50 euros extra a month for a public ip 2) use ipv6 tunnel brokers 3) create VPNs with boxes that have public IPs
As Foster notes, when food-poisoning is traced to a store or restaurant the health-department makes every effort to inform those who may be affected. Shouldn't we demand the same when a businesses server poisons our computer."
Maybe in the US it's like this, but not elsewhere.... In Italy, for a long time some nut would inject bleach and other similar liquids in water bottles... Quite a few people ended up in the hospital, but fortunately nobody died... Well, there was no way to find out the brands of the water bottles that where poisoned.... The media kept it all hush-hush, and it does the same for lots of other things...
Heh, at a certain point he just had to say it: "You may snicker and say, well, they had to do it, right? But while you may have long since decided that Windows isn't very well engineered, I would have to disagree with you on that point. Windows is simply the only seriously interesting target for hackers, virus and word authors, and spammers."
Oh, well, maybe it's because of this:

I was a hw tech, a few years ago, and I had to replace a mother board on a Pentium 166MMX. I replaced it, but I didn't know the clock of the CPU, 'coz the fan and the heat sink were stuck on it, so I looked at it, figured it was a 200MMX, and set the mobo jumpers accordingly. When I started the PC, the IDE controller chipsets for some unknown reason exploded, and that was the end of that motherboard....

Yesterday an anti-piracy "decreto di legge" (for the moment only for movies, but it will be extended) was passed (the final step before it becomes a law). It is somewhat like the new european law, but it is stricter with sharers. The ISPs are by law forced to hand over to the "Guardia di Finanza" (cops) the info on the sharers whenever a copyright owner complains (the law says that if they don't comply, they can be fined for up to 250.000 euros). The sharers will then be fined "simbolically": (1500 euros), and the information of the fined sharer will be published (!!!) on a national newspaper!! Yup, no kiddin', Italy sucks, and if you know italian you can check for your self here: http://www.beniculturali.it/download/DL_Cinema_PCM 12032004.pdf More info can be found here: http://punto-informatico.it/p.asp?i=47374 , but unfortunately it's all in Italian (I am waiting to find an article in english to submit the story....)
