I think you discovered how much could be packed into one map long before Valve did. Episode 1 reminded me alot of Minerva, well thought out maps that aren't a straight line from point A to point B.
I'd love to playtest for you if you ever need it, biodeo@gmail.com
"and somehow negatively impact future titles that spring from Sid Meier's genius."
Yea, making a run of the mill pirate game that didn't acually let you be a pirate was such a great idea. Wouldent a pirate dancing with a woman be the rough equivilant of an oil CEO paying his taxes?
From what I've seen, most of the intrest in this console has been from the non-hardcore. Anyone who has acually taken the time to look into this knows that the initial line-up of games is nothing worth buying a system for (hell, the playable demos on the kiosks are a joke).
Usually, it's the oposite, with the hardcore gamers wanting the system right away and the more casual folks and parents sitting back and seeing how it goes.
Personaly, I've been telling people not to buy one this season, but to wait untill the PS3 comes out and the 360 gets some worthwhile games.
Are there any plans for something better than the useless meeting stones? Something like a billboard in IF/Ori.
(I'll admit, I haven't played in months. Got to 57 and the game just completely fell off. Either become elitest and join an uber guild or be doomed to being alone.)
The Source engine is so great because it has great visuals while still running at a good framerate. The new engine being used in F.E.A.R. for example, looks pretty good, but runs like crap. "Realtime" doesn't mean much when you talking about top of the line hardware 2 years from now. Making nice visuals is easy, making it run on realistic hardware isn't.
(note: I will tip my hat though, that motion blur was nice)
"The victim's families have filed a civil suit against the video game manufacturer and two stores, claiming Moore killed the three after repeatedly playing "Grand Theft Auto III" and "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City." No trial date has been set in the civil lawsuit"
Wow... just wow...
Does anyone else see the terrible, terrible irony here? If they held their logic true, they should be protesting the guilty verdict, since it obviously wasn't his fault, the video games did it. The article mentioned them hugging the prosecutor, so they were obviously pleased.
It also just feels like the opinion of a single person, like something you would see on a message board that nobody would listen to.
But no, it's on IGN and people are paying attention to it for some reason (this is the second place I've seen it now). There's a good bit of lip service too, like even putting Halo on the list.
I agree that remakes and sequels have been dominating the sector way too much as of late, but a remake of FF7 is just something that might truly be worth it. I've never heard so much talk and rumors of a remake, I think this is something alot of people really want. Perhaps Square was just waiting for better hardware.
I also hope to god they "finish" the game this time (see the first post). It's been fairly well documented that she was supposed to come back.
I can't drive worth a crap on a cell phone, but then again, I'm of a dying breed that like control over the cars transmission.
I can think of a couple of times where is I hadent reacted in time, another driver on a cell phone would have hit/run me off the road. Cell phones are alot like old people; they cause plenty of problems, they usualy just arent in the acuall accident.
Not to mention that it's just fucking rude Mr. Self-Important.
Anyone patent the act of driving with a cell?
Anyone know how much money MS is lossing on this network and on the Xbox in general?
On top of that, how popular is online console gaming? MS claimed almost 1 million, but that doesnt acually sound like much when you consider how many PS2 have sold and that alot of those probably arent active users. Heh, not to mention how many people play CS alone.

(first off, I work in video game retail)

What did they invent? This appeared and failed years ago, it was called Divx
Why do people still listen to this guy?
This is the guy who ruined Deus Ex, his own franchise. Why on earth should we want to hear what he has to say about what to do with other franchises?

How well will it run?

Hell for that guy would be E3.

I hope they don't get one red cent.
