Why not use SCO? At least then they can say they contribute to the well-being of the world. I am sure that Darl could spread out on two or three mines.
I am sure countries with mine infestation problems will really care what animal rights organizations have to cry about. All I would have to do to gain some sympathy is put two-four 8 year olds with missing limbs because of land mines. That will shut up most people who want to complain about rats that breed like...well rats...
The kind with a fat TV system? Sides whose talking about self-respect, I need to keep my level of nerdiness to a specific point so the girlies don't run away cause of the geekiness factor:)
VCR's man, VCR's (yes I could record my shows on my computer, or download them, but I prefer watching my movies/shows on TV with my nice BOSE surround sound speaker system):)
She is hoping they will settle out of court and get a big payout. Considering lawyer and court fee's can add up to a substantial amount, draws negative attention, etc this is what traditionally happens.
Personally I hope they take the family to court, slam them and then sue them for defamation/slander. This is insane. Lets count, who here knew of the word "Googol" prior to this posting? Thanks...nuff said.
Linus is going to "steal" the new and patented idea from SCO and wait for 30 years before taking anyone to court so he can maximize his profits before he goes under (literally 6 feet in that old age), but close enough to match SCO.
Who confirmed this information? Who were these people? Remember, many terrorist people will hide within the confines of their family. Their family knows this and acts as shields for them. If you want to act as a shield, then you take the risk of getting hurt. The fact that a child was there is not the fault of the child (depending on the age) but it is also not the fault of the soldiers. It is the fault of the parents who forced them to be around a high profile person who is in the middile of a war.
It can also mean (with exception offcourse) that the strongest were able to adapt and survive. Now obviously a species in the direct range of the blast would be toast, but those who are suffering from the "nuclear winter" would have to follow the "survival of the fittest" model. Especially with scarce food, oxygen, light, etc.
Pretty impressive if you ask me....then again most of those life forms are probably bacteria, & cockroaches(the equivelant of), etc...
I may be an idealist but I still buy into the "innocent until proven guilty" and just because we do not like SCO for being jerks in one area does not make them guilty in another. I mean guilty as in someone high up purposely instructing their employees to break copyright laws.
I find it easier to believe that the bosses didn't know and that an employee just lied to them. But these are all guesses from our parts since we do not know and probably never will...:)
Look at the original article. The guy makes a literal statement claiming that since the law does not explicitly say you have the right to copy DVD's you do not have it. My correlation: The law does not explicitly say you have the right to breath. Hence the relationship is present.
Are you so bitter with life that you cannot see that and must resort to inflammatory statements?
Not that I want to defend SCO, but chances are the higher up's in that company had no idea what was happening until the complaint arrived. Meaning, some tech writer who works for SCO did the stealing and said to his bosses "I'm a genious, look at what I made." Not really the bosses fault since there is SO much material out there.
Though I still say down with SCO!
It also makes me happy to make back-ups of my DVD's in case the original breaks (and it has happend).
And going by the quote of the article, my statement is valid. The law does not say specifically that I have the right to breath air, just like it doesn't specifically say I have the right to eat ice cream, own a phone, etc.
And I got modded up cause I'm cool:) whats your excuse for not being modded down?
'There is no right in the copyright law to make backup copies of motion pictures, so the whole argument that people should have the right to make backup copies of DVDs has no legal support whatsoever,' said Fritz Attaway, executive vice president of the MPAA."
Is it written in the law that I have the right to breath air? Since it doesn't say that, I guess I do not have this legal right.
The law is a restricting agent - it tells people what they can and cannot do - but if it doesn't explicitly mention something then it is up to the individual to determine what they want to do.
"Hello Microsoft Technical support how can we help you?"
"We are in the middle of a battle and our heavy guns software won't let us fire."
"OH my! We will help you right away, what operating system are you using?"
"Windows NT 4.0"
...click...... "Hello? Anyone there?"
that would be unethical (rolls eyes)

Not as cool as my trained sharks with frickin laser beams....

I'm not a real geek :)...raised in the US, born in Israel? Maybe that explains it? Well I did grow up on ST:TNG
You are getting sued, you forgot to TM the (TM)
...tsk tsk tsk

What Linus _should_ do is write a well-thought-out rebuttal and get it into the major news outlets
/.???

It's a new radical trend, this "politeness" thing. I am sure someone rolled in their grave at it's notion :)
All the geeks that I know who "do martial arts" are quite pathetic at it, but all seem to think they rock at it...
Apple Macintosh (you know, the computer that is now taking over the planet thanks to the iPod).
Which planet are we talking about?
By "Strongest" I meant overall - not just strength - which would be very foolish of me to say. My appologies for being confusing
