2nd edition never had an official anti-paladin - maybe it appeared in some magazine, so I cannot say 100% sure it didn't - but I have never seen it....if at all it was a house rule class, but nothing official. 2nd edition was very strict on its interpretations of classes (i.e. rangers had to be good, rogues could not be LG).
3.0 was the same way...there was no anti-paladin, in fact Blackgaurd was not the anti-paladin but it was the closest thing you could get to it (short of house rule).
3.5 released a book Unearthed Arcana which has variant classes: Paladin of Freedom (CG), Paladin of Slaughter (CE), and Paladin of Tyranney (LE). This book does not mention anti-paladin, but the paladin of slaughter and paladin of tyranney are the closest thing we can ever get to that.
It is nice when they do that, but you gotta enjoy irony of MS power...once they conform to the standard, it is considered an accepted standard....considering the majority of people utilize IE then it is reality (even though something the techie community wishes it was not).
Because I can't really see any other explanation for those profits than price-fixing.
It's not really price fixing. They just keep raising the prices, but due to competition they have to keep them relatively the same...and I mean relative....if one bank charges 1.75, and across the street they charge 2.50 --- that is a big difference.
Banks ATM fees are determined by region (poorer areas are cheaper then more affluent areas).
Also, profits do not determine if companies are price-fixing - there is no law saying a company cannot make insane profits on a product. As I always say, the consumer has the right to noy buy it.
Make no doubt, banks love online banking. It means you are not walking into a branch. It means less paper processing so the lockbox department is less worked (which means less paid since most transaction processors are paid per the transaction). Branches have overhead, and lots of it. Even rolling out an expensive security system is WHOLLY worth it to the banks because they will be able to attract more online bankers and this, in the end, will save them money.
Think ATM machines....these things were UBER expensive to roll out back in the early 80s. Now they are pure cash cows, and any bank that wants to call itself competative will have ATM machines. It is a defacto standard. BTW, the average transaction cost (for the banks) on an ATM machine is 4 cents (total, for both banks). And here (in Philadelphia) you cannot really find ATM machines less then 1.25 - and the ones near me (center city) range from 1.75-2.75.
Yes, that is exactly what they want to do. Give you a free copy of the game without having you register. Because you know, when they want beta testers, they don't want to be able to contact them.
If you are that paranoid, use a bogus e-mail, and bogus home address/phone number.
that ensures a person is not confused between 0 (zero) and O (letter "o"). Even the one here on/. is not that great because it is a very subtle change. It would be nicer if the zero had a slash or dot in the middle (no pun intended). Some fonts are absolutely atrocious, and the zero and letter "o" are completely indistinguishable.
I may not have all the details 100% right (... corrections gratefully welcomed!) but the gist of my point is this: If they took his computer, noticed the HD was totally blank even though it looked like it should at least have an OS on it, and they analyzed and found out that something more serious than a basic format had occured, they'd have justifiable reasons to believe that he blanked it intentionally to remove incriminating evidence. To the best of my knowledge, though, they wouldn't be able to prove that he did it as a result of their arrival. Circumstantial at best. Personally, I could see an innocent man OR a guilty man doing the exact same thing.
But isn't that like saying "He was wearing gloves at the bank so his fingerprints wouldn't get all over the place"....when in reality, its winter time and the guy was wearing gloves to keep his hands warm. This would (as you said) at best be circumstantial evidence.
This is not, however, a criminal suit but a civil suit and as such they do not have to prove beyond a reasonable doubt....in fact, they would just be happy to make this guy suffer some money when he has to go pay a lawyer. Similar to OJ Simpson...Criminal courts found him not guilty, Civil courts made him pay through the nose for his non-guilty acts.
Thats not entirely true, actually thats quite false. First, let us get one thing understood - the calculations for the credit card companies are so freaking complex that very few people in this world actually understand it.
There is a point of minimal return, and actually a point where it hurts you - but having a credit card with a potential high maximum balance, but a low actual balance is what banks look for. They want to know you are responsible enough to have credit but not splurge. So when the bank see's for the past 3 or so years I have had 15k+ max credit, but never go above 2k they are saying "Ok he is responsible".
Given that, I have a 720 (give or take a point) average credit rating.
The problem with that is it wastes your minutes. Do you really want to incur that? Even if you have a large cell phone plan, why do you want even one minute wasted on this nonsense?
When I had a land line they (long distance phone service co's) would call me each and every Saturday at 9 AM (annoying) but they would offer to switch my phone service - for free - and would give me things like gas cards (I think the biggest I got was a $50 card) and other stuff. So I would say "if you give me something, and it costs me no money to switch, I will do so"....and then I had to think - I never use my long distance - but hey. Sometimes I get my credit card company calling me but I asked them to stop for anything but emergencies...they respect that because they want to keep my business. Besides, having a 30k credit card with a 1.5k balance does not exactly scream "raise my limits"
Yea great, every five minutes or so I get an advertisement that utilizes one of my text message slots. And even if it doesn't...I am paying for the cell phone service - am I getting a discount for these ads? The beeping, buzzing and bother to read the message is not something I planned for when I purchased the phone and was not mentioned to me.
JUST A REMINDER...On December 15, cell phones numbers are being released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive sales calls. YOU WILL BE CHARGED FOR THESE CALLS...
To prevent this, call the following number from your cell phone: 888-382-1222. It is the National DO NOT CALL list. It will only take a minute of your time. It blocks your number for five (5) years.

your money? what does the word debit mean? and how much of it do you have?
I said "our money". The word "debit" is a reduction - specifically from some kind of account (i.e. to debit money from my checking account, The ledger shows $190 balance and after i debited $50 from the ledger it showed $140 balance). Typically debits are listed on the left hand of a ledger and are in red. As for how much debit do I have? I don't think it is possible to have "debit". I can have "debt". If you are asking how much I have, well that is noyb.
Incidentally, since it wasn't too long ago that it happend, the term "Black Friday" came about because most retail stores get out of the red and into the black, in terms of profits. Black, in finance, is a good thing - meaning positive.
it follows logically that Massachusetts should also turn its back on OpenDoc and OpenOffice.org because development is underwritten by Sun:
valid point...but isn't opendoc and openoffice free? As a free solution an organization would want to hire someone to maintain it and they can then look for a company that only utilizes US sources...or in the case of MA, hire a company that originated in MA and works within MA. That would score points with the MA voters and help bolster some IT firms profit margins...if it's a small enough IT firm, maybe even make them rich. The taxes they pay would then get recycled back into MA - so it's a win-win solution for the gov't. They get to pay for the stuff, and in a way it is discounted because of taxes.
People expect her to be a bot and so they know what to look for. Someone receiving a random IM just might get surprised. While you may not fall for it, and maybe your friends may not fall for it...think about the average human IQ (100). Think about all those idiots online who open up e-mails "I Love You" multiple times. You think those people won't fall for ALICE?
I was thinking the same thing. Even more relevant - why doesn't South Korea sue Apple for bundling Quicktime with their OS?
Don't they bundle iTunes with Apple OS...and doesn't iTunes allow you to buy ONLY from Apple Store? I mean, if that is not anti-competative I don't know what is "yes you can buy 99 cent music...but ONLY from us."
If that headline doesn't send MA a message on switching to OpenDoc nothing will
All the other crap about why MA should switch to OpenDoc I did not agree with. Totally did not (got modded down a bunch for my views also)...this reason, is a great reason why MA should drop office for OpenDoc. No reason to send our money to India...and what better way to penalize a gigantic business then by cutting off their gov't contracts.
All of these companies are just following the lead of the US government. With that precedent, these countries and unions can engage in corporate piracy to impose additional taxes against an American company, and to attempt to hobble it to help their own home-brewed competitors, and there is little the US can say to appeal this (given that Microsoft was found to be a monopoly in the US).
Like i said I can understand if they want to fine them for forcing hardware companies to ONLY utilize windows products in their OEM products. I can understand if they are fining MS for not giving a company an opportunity to make a product to work on Windows because it is competative. Actually I do not agree with these, but I understand where they are coming from....but to sue them for having a utility already built in? I am telling you, one day MS is gonna get pissed off, and sell us Windows in a stripped down version and before you know it - to get the same functionality as we have now, you will have to pay an extra $1k.
I used to like Netscape...and then 4.7 was replaced by the next version which sucked. Netscape forced me to go to IE, which I hated at the time. I use FireFox now. I like windows media player. I can't stand realplayer or winamp. I like notepad. I like defrag. I like all the stuff that comes with my windows - in fact I hate when third party applications (i.e. Free McAfee trial) comes with it. If I wanted McAfee on my computer I would buy it. At least when I buy windows I know it should come with Media player...I have no idea it is going to come with a free trial to XYZ product - which 95% of the time I end up deleting.
Pimps the geek cloak.

There is no anti-santa...he took prestige class levels in Blackgaurd. Since Santa was 20th level, he was able to trade them in, fully.

Sounds like a class action lawsuit in the making.
Why?
It's not a new space object, it's a piece of lint on the telescope.

According to the ChannelCincinnati story, the victim 'is either a slick film pirate or an unwitting victim of someone who fits that description.'"
