Any one using torrents to download copyrighted material, especially recently released copyrighted material, should never lose sight of the fact that what they are doing is illegal and probably at least a little immoral. You have to balance the immoral hijacking of the copyright laws against taking the results of peoples work without compensating them.

Ill have to point out that people inherently know when they are doing things wrong. Just because there is a law on the books that says you cant make copies without the right holders permission doesn't make it right. It just means a bunch of people who support the that law THINK its wrong. Copyright is way out of step with the times and people are aware of this. In this case the reason why people choose to not pay for copyrighted works is because its easier to do now with the Internet. had it been easier before without it, I think people would be doing the same thing. Some of the main reasons are, not having enough money to by a product, wanting to try before you buy, not worth the money that the product is charging, but wanting to have a copy for the sake of having it.

Make no mistake, this is about people in power trying to impose their set of ideals on the world, when clearly the majority of public DO NOT AGREE that it is wrong to download copyrighted works. making a copy of something does NOT deprive people of the property. So I think its complete bullshit for you even imply that its about moral issues. This is about CONTROL and who has the CONTROL makes the decisions about what people can and cannot have. IF you want the music industry to have CONTROL over how you live your life, then go ahead and subscribe to their ideals. But I don't buy it for one minute that copying peoples works is wrong. If you put something out their, expect that it will be taken and used without permission, thats part of life, part of being creative. The only time copyright law should be used is on someone that is small and not making enough money and depends on his work to survive. he needs copyright protection from groups of people that have no vested interest other than trying to profit on his work. how the hell does that apply to the small guy thats makes a copy of a song? or someone that runs a server that points to material, some of them copyrighted works that needs money to keep the server going?

When you wrap your identity around the things you do as a person in the world its really hard to break free. You are not what you do. Who you are goes beyond the physical part of this world that we live in.

I think LSD helps you connect with that part of yourself, but I dont really think you need drugs to reach that. Present moment awareness practice is all you will ever need..

Ill chime in on this issue from a philosophical standpoint. It seems like what is happening is people are falling into two camps. People that believe in the power of capitalism (our current economical system), and people that value the ability to provide solutions to problems and benefit from that solution or improving on it, without restrictions.

It breaks down even farther than that. People that believe in ownership and people that dont. Its starting to become apparent that if you identify with the idea of owning something (for the purpose of limiting everyone around you), you have let the idea of ownership cut you of from the collective good. Whenever you making something important enough to claim as 'mine and not and yours' you are missing out on the bigger picture of life. Everything that we create in this universe was built on from the ideas of others. You can't claim anything as yours because of this reason. To do so is to restrict the flow of life to yourself in such away as for everyone that values the freedom to build on the ideas of others (and profit as a byproduct of that ideal) from dealing with you entirely. Sure there are going to be people that sacrifice this ideal to gain an advantage in their own life at the expense of their own freedom (they might not need that freedom) The problem is that they do not represent the entire collective as they dont understand what they are giving up, which is long term good that open source provides to us as a social paradigm. A way to take away the power of centralized control and replace it with distributed empowerment through out the social collective.

The people that understand this goal are the ones that are going to save this society from ourselves as I dont think anyone with a capitalist mindset is going to understand the impact this is causing completely. They have been trained at birth to believe that whats mine is mine and whats yours is yours is the best approach, we have to start teaching people that this ideal (taken to its extreme) is causing a great deal of stagnation and misalignment to the common good.

The GPL3 takes the power away from organizations that focus on centralized power and gives it to the common man, a much more balanced approach to empowering people to live completely free.

In particular, the Evolutionary theory in its totality in explaining how life came about is weak a best, so it's even worse, because there is no reason for Evolution to use a common set of coding molecules.

But, in more simplistic terms, when you can come up with a better theory to that explains how evolution solves the "how we came about question", we will talk. It's not only the ability to falsify the theory (which happens all the time), but being able to come up with predictions. In either case, one cannot come up with an observational set that completely proves evolution captures the complete picture of life on earth. It may even be Science, but science doesn't explain everything, just a small portion of the truth about any one thing.

I don't see why you think this is so hard, just turn off automatic updates on all the client machines. Have someone apply updates manually from a server on the network to the client machines after you have verified nobody else in the world is having problems with the updates after a couple of weeks. You would want to also check to see what each update does and think about what kind of impact it would have if you decide to apply that update to one of your client systems. Or you would want to probably setup a test client system that emulates other client machines in that business and apply updates to that machine, test the applications just to make sure there are not any problems.

I'm an avid believer in minimizing my credit use. I think obtaining credit for certain things like buying a car or a house is fine, but I think credit cards give us a false sense of security. In that, it causes us to to devalue what things are worth. When you buy something with cash in hand you feel a sense of empowerment because you have the means to accomplish what you set out to do NOW. With credit you are operating at a deficiency (if you use credit cards to pay for things with money that you don't plan on having in the early future) You don't have worth to give you to the means to accomplish what you want, so you resort to sacrificing your financial future for a short term gain that isn't always quantifiable. This causes you to accumulate debt that you didn't think you would have. Now im not blaming people for this, its just the way it is and I understand that people feel like they need to obtain credit to buy in times of need, im just not sure how far you should go.

Secondly, I think that credit report system is flawed, having lenders use it for lending purposes are certainly understandable. The problem is I don't think its a good idea to use it as an end all solution to determine if someone is legit. People change, mistakes are made and are possibly corrected. Also the big thing i have a problem is with is that it is used by non-lenders. Paying bills such as utilities and rent should not even be factored into the use of credit reports. The largest problem of all, you don't have much control over what goes on your record. Basically you are putting someone else in power of determining your creditability and that is not something you want to do.

I'm interested in knowing if anyone would be interested in joining a grass roots effort to limit the scope of credit bureau influence.
