I wouldn't say of course. Retail game images have been ripped - those executables are signed when they get ripped as well, but those discs don't boot when you burn them...
The impressive part of this news is not that there are burnable demo discs, but that the burned disc is in fact bootable.
Since the Xbox 360 uses essentially the standard xbox filesystem which the hacker/modder community is more than familliar with, the ideas is that this demo disc can be 'hacked' to allow booting of custom, unsigned code.
If this is the case then two things become true:
1) Homebrew will live on the xbox 360. Get ready for custom media players, emulators, xbox linux etc - all the great things that have come to be on the original xbox can perhaps come to be on the 360.
2) Piracy will live on the xbox 360. Get ready for the ability to 'backup' your favorite games.
#1 is good for the community, #2 is not, but c'est la vie.
Only one crash so far (after many hours of play).
It still amazes me that crashing is often considered acceptable in software these days. Software is the only "product" I can think of where its failure is not always considered unacceptable. Would you feel the same way if instead of your latest PC game crashing, it was your car breaking down, or your oven not turning on, or your bed frame falling apart?
An 80 kg (175 lbs) motorcycle would be fine for the highway. I ride a Kawasaki Ninja 250cc with a dry weight of 300 pounds and I have absolutely no problem with it on windy days. As long as you know how to correct for it, wind should not be an issue.
This opens up the option of homebrewing your own dock into a mini for yourself..."
Not quite. Since the Mac Mini was not designed to have an iPod dock in it, adding one on your own without buying an officially licensed accessory is clearly a violation of the DMCA.
Is Slashdot encouraging law breaking?! The Horror!
I used to work for a small ISP that sent out installation floppy disks to users back in the late 1990s. Instead of buying floppy disks to put our software on, my boss gave me a stack of free disks that he got in the mail from AOL, Prodigy, Compuserve and the like. He had me remove the labels, format the disks, put our installer on them, and relabel them so they could be sent to new customers.
Doesn't Brazil have more serious problems that it should be taking care of? Like their HUGE poverty problem? A significant percentage of that country lives in deplorable conditions and will never be able to see any of these movies.
Sometimes it just seems like the money is going in the wrong direction.
Sniff credit card numbers on the wireless network and charge them "convenience fees" which most flyers probably won't complain about:) Lazy americans (myself included)
We all know that these superbowl predictions made by 989 sports' game and espn's game won't accurately pick this years football game. I'm going to have to simulate it in Madden 2003 to get some real results.
Either that, or I'm a very stubborn patriots fan refusing to believe even the POSSIBILITY of a panthers win:)
I seriously doubt the average OS X user would feel even the least bit guilty. Hell, the average user doesn't even know what Linux is or that fact that OS X is unix-based. Most OSX users don't contribute to the open source community anyway, they're too busy using iMovie, iTunes, iPhoto, iExcellentPackagedSoftware to feel guilty.

Snes9xtyl-v02c (http://pspupdates.qj.net/2005/08/snes9xtyl-v02c.h tml) will actually run using the eboot loader version 8.5 on a psp with firmware v2 now as well.

"timestretch" feature (for changing playback speed but not the pitch so you can watch shows more quickly)
Or, if you're from the south, you can slow down the show for easier understanding.

I'm not kidding.
This was a hell of a savings, at least $5/year.

Are you sure this isn't the SCO Museum (which is hopefully soon to come)?
