I have seen this happen in Houston. A homeless guy outside of a convenient store claimed he was from New Orleans and needed some money to get to a Red Cross shelter. The store clerk notified me and everybody else that gave him the benefit of the doubt that he lives in Houston and has for a long while.
It sucks that people would take advantage of people's generocity in such dire circumstances.
and nice attempt at syncing the music. I can just see it now though... the impacting satellite accidentally hitting the observing satellite on its way i to the asteroid.
Pretty cool none-the-less.
My situation is the complete opposite. I had TechTV on my analog cable package and G4 was on digital cable (which I didn't have). Now the combo G4TechTV is only on digital. Now I have to consider whether I should upgrade to digital or not. I liked it better when I didn't have to.
With some of the reviews I have seen in this story thread, I am not sure it is worth it to see the new network.
Also, there is no (UK pound) key, you'll have to type Alt-156 on the number pad for it to work. And since laptops save space by not having a seperate keypad for the number pad, you'll have to get used to hitting num-lock everytime you want to type .
Additionally, I don't think the Euro sign is included in the fonts. I could be wrong here though.
Cool, when that comes out I'll be able to refine my training for that tic tac toe game on the Cartoon Network where you have to use your mind to place the O's.
Why didn't anybody use the buggies or trucks that they use in the Baha 1000 races? I'd think those vehicles could take a better beating than many of the vehicles (i.e. stock SUVs, and ATVs) submitted. Since it seems like at least several of the teams had fairly good obstacle detection, it would seem that the only thing holding them up was the toughness of their equipment.

From articles I've read (unfortunately I can't recall where) the whole DARPA event was used to "scare" one of their existing research partnerships (CMU) into getting their @$$ in gear and producing an automated vehicle - which apparently CMU was lagging on. The event was to show that DARPA could get great research from other sources if CMU didn't shape up.
The result is that CMU stopped dragging their feet, which accomplishes the main goal of DARPA $1 million challenge.
I find it interesting (although maybe I shouldn't) that even though her english is broken she uses the term 'bejesus'. I can understand learning english slang and curse words before mastering sentence structure and spelling but I never thought I'd see 'bejesus'.
I suppose the potential for BB over power lines is cool considering the vast coverage of the power grid. However it was my understanding that getting around the transformers was the main problem with this technology. They were going to have to demodulate the data signal from the carrier before the tranformer and then modulate the signal again after the transformer. Have they found a solution for this?
I saw this at the SXSW film festival in Austin last year. I thought it was very good. I took a friend with me who wasn't very interested in robots and she enjoyed it also. As some of the other reviews stated it did stretch the imagination on how humans and robots might interact with each other in the distant/not to distant future with some comic, some serious issues being addressed. Overall, it was pretty good.
I am not sure how useful the Martians will find Wi-Fi. I thought they had telepathic abilities.
We could always use it to play heavy metal music or such to make the Martians go insane and come out of hiding, such as part of psychological operations.
I wonder how successful the plant grows in desert conditions? Is it suitable for all terrains (i.e. Soggy, rice fields and all)?
For the current situation in Iraq and Afganistan, I would think successful desert growth would be a priority.

At first I thought you meant sandpaper on your eyeball. Ouch! Then I realized that you probably meant the reader. At least I hope so anyway.

Its been slow going so far.
