Opinion? I asked a simple question that has a simple answer. If I wanted an opinion, I would have said "What can we do if we live in areas with a shit-ton of open wireless access points?"
Unfortunatly, I live in a smallish (7500 people) town and like 4 of them have Magic Intarweb Boxes.
So, you didn't answer my question either.
What's the rate on the Verizon intarweb cell thing?
When I was tempted to go with what Cingular (My current carrier) offered, it was like $1/10meg... this guy is streaming video from his home box and I'd hate to get that cell bill.

Nice work replying. Too bad it has NOTHING to do with my question.
He said he streams video over his cell connection. I was wondering what the pricing on that kind of thing was.
The front panel of my Thermaltake is thick aluminum and quite cool to the touch. It has slits in it for air to pass through. It makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside to think that it's helping cool the air that the pair of 120mm fans are blowing through there.

I tried to listen to his podcast for about a month. All it was was "Here's what's on/. today: *reads headlines, makes stupid comment*" or "Hey, I have a surprise coming up, I can't tell you what it is, but it's amazing." And one entire episode was dedicated to the fact that he is somehow being paid to do that shit. He spent another episode reading letters from idiots praising him for his wonderful show.
What wonderful show? It's just some asshole talking about his lame life and reading slashdot.
I don't think you can have a license agreement on a box. Seeing as how you're not getting a license to use the box, you're getting the actual box. Not the idea of a box, the fucking box.
If there's a goddamned license agreement on the box, what's next? You're being granted a license to posess that milkshake cup from Burger King? Come on, that's total bullshit.
All I know about the pings are from the bitching I hear from Aussies in WoW (West Coast Server) they're usually in the 500-750 range. From what I hear, they usually avoid the PvP servers because of their crap lag.
My car (A 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX) is most fuel efficent at 55mph. But what fun is it to go that slow? I usually set my cruise at around 95-105 on the Mass Pike. People pass me, too.
The great thing about going that fast is that seat belts are optional. Think about it: If I roll my car at 100, do I have any chance of living?
I love the (State or Federal, I don't know) law that to recieve a speeding ticket an actual police officer has to witness the event.
Back in like 1998 I could understand multi-part rars (when I had dialup, anything over 10 megs was usually also found in multiple downloads and it took me 2 days to download a 127meg game), but everyone who is going to download your release has at LEAST DSL.
I have 6Mbit cable. Downloading a 4gig DVD takes a few hours. I downloaded a recent movie (TS quality 1.4 gigs) in just over an hour.
What asshole is using dialup to download multi-gig files?
Even in xvid, the good rips will be 2-3 cds long. I don't really understand why these release groups are cutting the movies up into 3 cd images instead of one DVD. DVD burners cost like $30 now, and DVD-Rs are pennies each.
I'm finding that most collections I download are in FLAC. If you know where to look, you can find lots of non-top 40 songs.
I've found that the searching and begging for seeds is too much of a hassle. allofmp3.com is a lifesaver for older stuff, and if they don't have it I go to iTunes.
If it's working, there's no reason to change your port. I can still connect to you, you can still connect to me. Unless either of us has a nazi ISP that's blocking the ports. I heard some have started blocking 'em.
All I know is that the nursing staff is usually pretty nice. The nursing aides are horrible monsters who yell at the Alzheimers patients and make comments to other aides about how big a "pain in the ass" the resident is being.
I'd avoid the warehouse type nursing homes. If money isn't too big of an issue, look for an "assisted living" center. With single apartments for the residents.
They usually smell better.
It's tough finding good help at places like where I work. End of Life care is difficult. The best nurses and aides are really sensitive to how the patient/resident is feeling. When you don't know when they're going to go, having 5 die on the floor you work on is very hard and can drive people away from that kind of job.
I know that after I've worked in a place like this I would rather go into debt and hire a visiting nurse than put my parent into a place like that.
I know Azureus and BitComet (And the rip-off copy BitLord) use a random port. You can set whatever port you want there, too. I'm currently using port 5555. Seeing as how Azureus and BitComet are really popular, you shouldn't have a problem finding peers.
The company I work for (Kindred Healthcare, they run a bunch of nursing homes) has a random drug test policy. The Administrator of the building I work in has said many times that she doesn't do the drug tests because if they enforced that policy, half of the building would be fired.
There's a difference between having a policy and enforcing policy.
How do you know you're going to be able to run linux or install a larger hard drive? It could be designed to only accept a certain drive size or brand.
Go to Amazon.com, look for the Lord of the Rings movies. Or Star Wars. Think about how many people paid an extra $10/per DVD to get the Ultra Extended Edition Director Cut Gold Version. Also try to think about how many people own the widescreen, collectors widescreen, extended widescreen, platinum wide screen, and so on. People who are interested in things tend to jump in with both feet. What's an extra $100 when you get to say "I got the collectors edition and x cool stuff!"

That's one of the great things about the LAN envrionment. You can walk over to them and kick their ass in person.
Or, maybe, here's an idea: They READ THE BOOKS!
Maybe the chain of Anti-Trust?

What? That's not a round trip at all. Unless you->Airport->Plane->Destination is a "round trip" (HINT: It's not)
> Here
/. at 95-100ms (Adelphia)
A round trip is Here->Sat->Sat->There->INTARWEB->There->Sat->Sat-
Oh, and your ping's crap... I'm pinging

At this point in the play Jack Cade and his followers are proposing to replace the rule of law with the rule of personal whim, a dictatorship.
If you're going to quote it, get the whole idea behind the quote.
Morons? Alright. I think it's fun. I'm no tuner or anything, I just think it's fun to go 125mph.
But, hey, with an attitude like that maybe we'll get lucky and you'll be involved in the multi-car pileup that follows.
Have a nice day, sir.
FedEx is clearly a not for profit organization because they have fedex.org!

Look at his posting history, he's a total karma whore.
If you looked at YOUR posting history, I should say.
You know, if you weren't such a karma whore, you'd probably make more friends here.
