No, sometimes this is the only way to make progress. Companies (more appropriately managers) are content to live in the dark on security issues instead of dealing with them. In my experience, money is the only concern in respect to most PHB's, and the only way to make a change is to expose it in a critical manner. I applaude this guy.

It is foolish to think in terms of Democrats vs. Republicans at this point anyway. Your allegience to whatever party you belong to doesnt' stop the fact that most of the money either side receives is from wealthy companies and individuals whos wants out-weight the general publice. Both parties do what is good for big business, albeit in different ways. The parent is right about this for sure, conceptualize it as rich people wanting to get and stay richer than you.

Before everyone goes into a tirade about the parent comment, I will point out a couple things. He is right in one sense, they laugh because we are different. I think it's funny to them that you could actually have a philanthropic attitude about something and produce because you like it, like art. I think programming requires a certain ammount of skill, and to do it correctly and efficiently is an artform of sorts. Posts like these are the only recourse against an army of those who have beyond the skill necessary to do the job. Yes sir, enjoy your "shiny car" and the hooker you apparently go home to everynight. It won't last forever. Besides that, it's funny about this outsourcing thing you know, because you might find yourself with a pink notice.

If you live in the Southbay, more specifically around Torrance, Redondo or Manhattan Beach, there is an accounting firm called Andrade & Associates. I have been having all my work done by this firm for the past few years and they are always on the ball. They tend to lean a bit more conservative as far as paying out taxes is concerned, however I prefere that to an accountant that will get me everything he /she possibly can and risk having an audit. Good luck.

I most definitely see your point, I was simply being facetious. The only recourse for the parent is really to have a signed agreement with the neighbor or anyone else that happens to use his wifi - I know this isn't so black and white. IANAL, but I think that would suffice, so long as he isn't violating his tos agreement with the service provider.

  17. Final Scratch on Software Distribution By Vinyl · · Score: 1

Final Scratch, which is distributed by Stanton Magnetics, created a system which uses a usb adapter and vinyl disks to get audio playback. Essentially, the disks are encoded with what sounds like noise, think dial up modem, the usb interface connects to the pc and using a customized linux application, it decodes the audio signal and uses it to detect where a track position is. I always thought this was one of the first forms of software on vinyl, but then again I'm probably not old enough to know any better.

I use a host called infinology.com I signed up a bit over a year ago and have pretty decent specs: 9000Mb, 100gb transfer, 60 email accounts, 3 mysql, It's the business tier 1000 I think, but I got it at a special discount sale that is basically 3 times more than what they normally offer for this package. Anyone else here use this host? I've had pretty reliable service and the use the h-sphere control panel, I like this one more than c-panel a lot of other server companies are using.

I was thinking the exact same thing whe I read this post, I recently graduated an animation program and one of the courses was a two semster run of Flash and fairly extensive actionscripting. flashkit.com has some great examples of prebuilt games to learn from quickly, as well as tutorials for non-action scripters to get into the nitty gritty. I seriously think this is the most viable option for the time frame and experience level.

I have had a similar power problems with the Satellite Pro S255, still running the xp/sp1 on it - I use it for a rendering machine in a small farm. One of the other things that was somehow related to this was the exhaust port building up a lot of dust and causing failure. Clearing up the dust solved some of the issues, and reinstalling the base software (off the 3 toshiba cd's) seemed to clear it up. As soon as I install other apps though, it seems to get back into the fail to hybernate loop. The only other thing that I see preventing this, use the function key and f3, it does the toshiba force hybernate function which does so almost immediately. Then close the lid.

With the onset of tools like this to create "movies", the market will now be flooded with inane work by people who have no concept of film making. Similarily to flash being used by people who should have their right hand cut off, we will eventually see endless episodes of swill. I have a suggestion, instead of piggy backing off someones video game creation, why don't you try something else. I say try blender 3d, (1)its open source, (2)you could create original content and learn something a lot about the process.
