As a high school senior right now... but mostly just as a high school student in general... I absolutely hate being given a research project to do, then time to go to the library to work on it during class, then finding out any good looking articles or possibly helpful sites I find are blocked.
Recently I had to research a pro-life group... but their main website was blocked because it was "inappropriate." I had to wait until I had time at home to finish the project due to the censorship at the school. That ticked me off that I couldn't even use time given to me to work on the project.
I think schools should just block everything... Make that internet connection 100% useless. Luckily their highly overpaid tech people seem to only know about http (not ssh, vnc, or any other services that can be used over the internet).
That can happen when you have more than 1GB of RAM. That happened when I upgraded to 2GB of RAM in my system. I did a quick Google search, and found that there is actually a Microsoft released hotfix for the problem.
I think it's a terrible idea. I also only upgrade one of those at a time. Plus, it'd be a waste of money for those that don't even need a high end GPU to go with their high end CPU. Or, even the other way... gamers often buy lower end chips and then overclock them, then they might get a high end GPU. Unless you think that each chip will have a whole spectrum of GPUs to go with it.
I have to agree as well. Slashdot has been like this for as long as I remember (and I assume from the very beginning?) Seems... wrong to change it.
I hope there is an option to use the old theme.
I've lost just about every single ext2 or 3 partition I've ever made, not just files, the whole partition, to simple power loss during idle times.
As have I. I've never actually used JFS, but I hear good things about it. I use reiserfs (v3.6, of course) everywhere (my servers and desktops) and haven't had any major problems with it yet. Only an accidental 'rm -rf *' at the root DIR, but that's certainly not the FS's fault.

Heh, what about when these kids "become of the age to receive spam!?" They will find it annoying as hell but wont have the law to back it up anymore. So, yeah, this should be for all people.
Unfortuneately, getting rid of spam can affect the economy. Believe it or not, there are actually people that will go for those low-interest loans and free condoms and without this form of advertising avaliable to companies, it does infact affect the economy. Not to mention the money made by the companies selling their e-mail databases to these spam companies.
I'm not justifying spam. I hate it. But it has become one of the luxuries companies can have to advertise. Just like commercials on TV (I hate those too). It is also a really hard thing to regulate but that is infact what it needs. By making it illegal to send spam to children, this is a step in the direction of regulating this stuff.
I don't block Google ads either because of their quality program. They know what they are doing and I really like having them around. As someone said... Annoying ads are definately gone.
However, it is possible that blocking ads will kill the internet (per an article that was on/. a while back). If companies can't make money off advertisements, they may start charging to view the site, which after some time will indeed kill the internet because I would absolutely hate having to pay to view almost every site.
Adblocking will infact eventually turn out new ways to display an ad and making it impossible to figure out exactly how to block the darn thing.
It's not about punishment, because of course any punished kid can find a way around it.
Of course, the kids will just learn a way around this by simply unhooking the damn thing. And idealy, the parents will be to busy to notice it's unhooked so that the kid can actually say "Yes mommy, I did walk for my TV time today."
I don't really see the enforcement in that. It's just a flawed idea to make parenting even easier for those parents that can't be bothered to raise kids. Just like the leap-frog reading things for little kids. Why not just read to your child!?
How the hell are they using a Sempron Processor on that thing? The board is socket 939 and the sempron 2200+ is socket A afaik. Also, If you look at the last image, it says its an AMD Athlon 64 2200+, which don't exist. This is really weird. Unless I am missing something like Semprons being 64-bit or them being in 939 as well, something doesn't add up.

As far as I know, the new IE7 wont support Windows 98 and below. Actually, looking at beta 2, apparently nothing below XP SP2 will be supported.
