Defined as individuals with little or no interpersonal skills, it is no surprise that many nerds simply either don't/won't/can't communicate their thoughts in a digestable manner. It's a little better here at slashdot, but the facts remain:
People who like Linux are usually the "figure shit out" types who enjoy solving problems. They can't comprehend a non-geek's desire for an easy to use GUI and interface and pretty much assume that these are just "stupid people". No, these are people with different skill sets.
The biggest stigma facing nerds is portrayal of the inability (and unwillingness) to communicate properly, whether the reasons be ignorance, arrogance or fear of rejection.

And let's be honest, many, many rappers may not be in it for the money, but they're in it for the women. In no other places can you see so many fine looking women around so many butt ugly fat guys as in a rap music video.
