"CNet is reporting that Netscape Navigator Version 8 has been released...and includes Trust Rating, a feature which identifies sites as safe or unsafe."
I don't have personal experience with this, so I certainly can't say definitively, but my understanding was that when you download music (pay per download) you first download it to your computer and then transfer it to your portable. If the portable's song licenses get messed up, you still have the copy of your license on the computer.
Moreover, there would be no reason for the licenses to get anulled by any sort of time skew because there is no time limit. You would get no advantage from trying to hack the time. There's no reason for the portable player's manufacturer to anull a pay-per-download license.
Usually that's what I do, but amazingly enough, it wasn't that way this time. That *was* my first thought on reading that phrase and I *didn't* read all the "jokes" in between.
It doesn't matter if it detects clock skew and nulls your licenses, as long as you still have the subscription, just hook it back up to the computer and renew the license.
When you copy the song from your computer to the player, it is set to work for only 30 days. After the 30 days passes, the song will stop working until you hook it up to your computer again and the player checks using the computer's 'net connection to the remote key server.
I work for a travel agency. We haven't been decimated by the internet. We have adjusted. We have gone from mainly domestic (20/80 international/domestic ratio) to mainly international (90/10). International is not offered as well on the internet because it is so complicated. We also have numerous special contracts with the airlines, as well as consolidators and wholesalers. We have found our niche and adapted as a result of changing technology. **AA should too.
If they take a salary they pay: 35% income tax + FICA, medicare, etc.
If they take stock, they pay income tax (35%) on the value of the stock when it was given. Any gains would be taxed at the capital gains rate of 15%.
If they have stock options, they pay income tax (35%) on the difference between purchase price and and market value at the time that they excercise the options. Any gains (the amount the stock goes up after the excercise of the options) are taxed at the 15% capital gains rate.
"Actually Mapquest used to have aerial photos. I'm not sure why they got rid of it.
Go ahead, split hairs about aerial vs. satellite...:)"
Keyhole has aerial mixed (seamlessly) in with satellite. In urban areas the resolution improves dramatically because of the aerial photos. I live near DC and can see the bird house in our front lawn.
I read about this the other day in the Washington Post. They have an interesting perspective. Basically, despite their winning, they still can't get any real success in life (not their fault). Read it (Get a un/pw):
Their moment of triumph was sweet but short-lived.
Vazquez and Aranda graduated from Hayden last spring, but they're not in college now, Davis writes, because they're illegal immigrants and thus ineligible for student loans or cheap in-state tuition. Vazquez is hanging drywall and Aranda is filing papers at a Social Security office. Santillan and Arcega are still at Hayden, Davis says, but their prospects for college also look dubious.
It also had a pretty funny part:
mmediately, they had a problem: When Aranda lowered Stinky into the pool, they realized they had a leak. Not only did they have to re-solder every wire in the machine overnight, Vazquez told his teammates, but they also had to find something absorbent to keep moisture away from the circuitry.
"Absorbent?" Santillan asked, recalling countless TV ads. "Like a tampon?"
Soon, Santillan was in the nearest supermarket, trying to work up the courage to ask a young woman for advice on which brand of tampons might work best in an underwater robot.
The woman laughed and made her recommendation. "I hope you win," she said.
LOL! It's sorta funny when these flame wars get so heated you can't even tell which side someone's on! For instance you: I can't tell whether you love GWB or hate him; I don't know if you're doing a ridiculous parody of a liberal or whether you believe that stuff. It's actually quite amusing...
Obviously some people don't like this. Oddly enough most of them are users of the suite.
Huh? Why would this be odd? If IE and Opera users didn't like this then yeah it that would be odd... But if Mozilla suite users don't like the idea that there might be no 1.8 release, I think that is not odd at all:P
Humans haven't come up with this thing called sarcasm. Therefore what you just said is perfectly reasonable.
I was kind of confused when I first saw the title: "Apple: Mad as Hell, Switching to Mac" Why would Apple be mad? And aren't they already with Mac?
Yep. *grin* That was me.
How does this relate to Google registering the trademark for TrustRank?
Site is down. Coral cache

When it said coral cache, my first thought was: "He didn't remove the ornaments from the aquarium?"

Ouch. Grrr.

Glad that Comcast is buying them.

Two more: Consumption tax

I have been doing a lot of research on this story and have a good roundup at my blog.
*Slashdot
Yeah, I know. You're right. But hey, this is Slasdot. Let's bash Microsoft all we can!! ;)
Because they made the rule, that was overturned, in the first place.
What the IMAX theaters are doing? It's called free speech.

Slashdot is a better place.
Notice he said handwrite; OCR can't read handwriting!
