I think the editors probably do a lot of good overall, but they tend to be heavy handed, deleting whole articles without warning rather than striking parts they find objectionable (which I think is more the intended role of the editor).
Further, I've seen cases where one editor will request better sources, and a second will just delete it (rather than nominate it for 7-day deletion). Kind of annoying.
So Apple has been working hard to keep jailbreaking down to a minimum. Now it is discovered that some jailbroken phones with jailbroken apps have security issues.
How is someone going to now turn this around and blame Apple?
They're going to have to disclose them, sooner or later, if they want to use them as evidence.
With the cameras, wireless technology, and storage so cheap, I've got to think Chicago won't be the first. Some areas in Philly sure could use something like that.
The SBIR program issued several requests to do something similar in Bagdad, although I don't know if it ever got done.
They wanted the ability to see a car of bad-guys do something, and follow them in reverse-time back to their hideout.

So we've gone from over-designing systems to under-designing systems.
How about right-designing a system based on the complexity of the scope and the key personnel involved?
In my opinion, the best part of the whole ordeal, was the fact that after the parody won, the owner handed the domain name over to Beck anyway.
This means Beck will be forced to:
1) Let the domain registration lapse, and be taken up by squatters who will use him good name in vain, or
2) Keep the registration paid, and forever, for the rest of Beck's life, have to PAY to keep DidGlennBeckRapeAndMurderAYoungGirlIn1990.com out of the hands of squatters.
Don't hire an IT company. This is not primarily an IT job.
You want someone who can design interfaces, design interesting exhibits and instructional interactivities, and who can work with technical people to make it happen.
Also look at HealthSouth, which never would have been found out if it weren't for SOX.
I think we need to keep it around, but a better breed of companies need to come around to take the pain out of it.
... and surgically insert another.
I'm waiting for the story tomorrow, when iphone 6,9 is discovered in the wild.
Actually, mdwd2, you are wrong.
This did happen, without warning. Was it admins instead of editors? I can't say.
Do I believe the same rush you felt, telling me my experiences were invalid, is behind many of the bad experiences people have with Wikipedia?
You betcha'.
I've had similar experiences.

That's all I hear.
The other reason for doing this is if you plan on distributing profits based on shares.
You can give more money to some people while giving the illusion of ownership to all.
All My Sons?
Thank god for this (not the bureaucratic mess part, the small business part).
I agree completely.
I hate this "the world doesn't work the way I want it to... WHAAAAA!" attitude that has cropped up on slashdot lately.
Let's crack this problem wide open.
I'm more interested in hearing what kinds of places serve the bad sushi, so I can avoid those.
I will not be avoiding sushi.
I've already bought into the fact I'm eating raw fish.

Really? You need the source code to determine the phone was locked into a carrier?
How about reading the service agreement.
Looks like a banner day for "first" life!
Yes, you may get rejected for no understandable reason, but you also get accepted without any major modification.
To clarify, Steve Jobs is not personally approving all apps.
Some recent college grad with an unknown degree and a checklist is doing this work, which is why it's kind of random.
The iTunes store has so many advantages, it's worth the hassle.

Is that crazy?
I'm glad this argument unfolded exactly as predicted, with "they did it on our dime" vs. "they did it on their own time" arguments abounding.
The only thing I don't see here is a "they only work 8 months a year but get paid for the whole year, screw them" argument.
No one, including the original article, asks whose money is being used to BUY the lesson plans.
So if Google sped up the non-ad web, they would have more room for their ads?
SNEAKY!!
MS innovations have always been in Marketing themselves.
I read it the same way you do. They're looking to patent a more useful GUI version of SUDO, not that functionality itself.
One in which the system figures out who can run the task, and presents the option to login as them.
I get annoyed as much as the next guy as MS, but this article is misleading.
Not sure why anyone would be shocked by this.

Next question, please.
