Ever played Wii Golf? On the fairway, distance to the pin is measured in yards. When you get to the green, it's measured in metres (ir at least it is in the Australian version).
Add a little Samba gui integration into Ubuntu (share folders and drives point and click) and I am ready to roll out Linux in my companies. Seriously. Myself I have been a Debian desktop user since Slink.
This is already in Ubuntu for folders. I haven't tried drives yet.
The colour of magic on the Discworld, also often called the eighth colour. Octarine is strongly indicative of magic and can only be seen by wizards and cats, who sometimes describe it as resembling a fluorescent greenish-yellow purple. As in conventional human colour vision, colour opponency prevents the perception of reddish-greenish or yellowish-bluish colours; it would therefore be impossible to perceive a colour as "greenish-yellow purple"; if greenish-yellow and purple lights were shone together a shade of grey would result, with pigments the result would be brown. The normal human visual system works by the presence of cones and rods in the eye; the ability of wizards to see octarine is explained by the additional presence of octagons. The colour octarine appears as black or invisible to ordinary people; this leads to a common conception of the colour as the colour of an incandescent filament when viewed through black-light film, a fluorescent white or ultrablue.
OT: wow, that sig brings back memories. We used to own (a physical copy of and a license for [:P ]) that on VHS. I wonder how many people remember it...
Precisely. What the hell do we want a Space Agency for?
Australia is an (well actually, "the") island continent. The mainland is the worlds biggest island, and Australia is also the worlds smallest continent.
This idea is like curbing teenage violence by giving them all shotguns.
I can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not, as the majority of the USA seems to follow this logic, and the rest of the West think that they're idiots for it.
As far as I can tell, there IS no Start -> Run in Vista with the default setup. You either have to revert the Start menu to classic mode (which I do anyway - the Vista way annoys the CRAP outa me), or use Win+R, which I do anyway.
What does the World Health Organisation have to do with this?
Damn straight - caps lock is a worthless key anyway.
Caps locks is cruise-control for "cool".
A 1:1,000,000 chance will occur 9 times out of 10.
Seems to be something that you'd see in xkcd...
HTH HAND
It's not a direct quote (AFAIK), but it's more in line with Sean Connery on Celebrity Jeopardy (SNL).
Don't you just love the American World Series? Exactly how many nations compete in this "World" Series?

Weird stuff.
Anyway, what's that in bogans per pub?

Ladies and gentlemen - thank you for flying Air Slashdot! The joke is now approaching its cruising altitude of 3 feet above your head...
Unfortunately, you'd probably lose ID3 information, but other than that, not a bad idea.

Stop sounding stupid.
I've tried this with people before, and it never works. Never fear - I have a plan!

Fascinating. Perhaps we in Australia are being subjected to NZ Marmite? Or maybe the Marmite in New Zealand is actually made in Australia.
Regardless, Promite is probably the worst *mite.
Marmite is absolutely horrible - far too sweet. Vegemite is much better.
Marmite looks like Vegemite, and that's about it.
Who's on first, and What's on second.
Pluto is a dog's dog. Goofy is a dog trying to be a man.
Actually, Pluto is a mouses dog.
Does anyone else think the UI doesn't have to be messed with.
Well, it's not what I'd call pretty. But then, as everyone says, it's easier to criticize than to actually offer a solution.
Fear not! I have in fact come up with a revolutionary new design for OOo! Behold the simple users interface:

Of course, it would be remiss of me to not post for you the Power Users interface:

I think this could catch on!
