In wine, having an app that was intended for an entirely different operating system actually work just blows my mind. i would never think to complain to the wine team that "x program won't work"
I think that when a common Win32 app doesn't work in Wine, it's not a bad idea to report it, so that they know, if for no other reason.
I think the more important side of the argument is whether you'd complain to a Windows app dev that their app doesn't work on Wine.
1.45 kg is just slightly too much in my opinion. I love my 701 weighing in at just over 900 grams, I'd prefer a model weighing 1.3 kg or less. But that's just me!
Also why aren't we seeing huge batteries like these in the cheap 15-inch laptops that would really need them? This pretty much proves that it can't be the cost that's prohibitive.
Yes, I see your point. Lets try to simplify </3rd Rock>
<JickL> Your netbook is too heavy. Also, can I have a bigger (heavier) battery?
Windows Starter edition comes without the Pipes screensaver?
I believe it still comes with the "Tubes" screensaver though.
To start the "Tubes" screensaver, open the program with an icon that looks like a blue 'e'. Click around to different places for a little while to enable all the features.
The "Tubes" screensaver takes the appearance of the Windows desktop, getting covered with overlays that flash and blink, show pictures of naked women playing with animals, and games where you get to hit monkeys.
"Tubes" has been included with Windows since Windows 95.
Well, you have to ask yourself which method is more likely to keep you protected from emerging threats.
Not in this instance. TFA does not discuss how effective the feature is, or how well it will be kept up to date. All it says is:
Protection against the relatively new threat of 'clickjacking,' where a site tries to get you to press buttons underneath a sham frame page, has also been added â" the first browser to include such protections.
In this instance, discussions concerning effectiveness, usefulness, and potential for regular updates are completely off the point.
Unless you can think of a different browser with this feature included natively, then TFA is most probably correct.

I may as well come out and say Ubuntu is so stupid, I could run [insert random distro] on my old 486 faster than Ubuntu on my modern hardware! Or whatever. The general idea is there.
Nearly, but not quite. I can easily run the current Ubuntu release on a P4 2.4, with 512MB of RAM, and a GeForce2 MX440, and have a wide selection of Compiz 3D effects. Try putting the current Windows release on a machine with that spec, let alone turn on 3D effects.
Why should "more resources required" be equated with "progress"? The short answer is that it shouldn't be.
The difference between XP and XP SP3 is bugger-all, truth be told. Especially when you compare 2000 and XP (Win 5.0 -> Win 5.1).
My point holds. 2.4 -> 2.6 is a minor version number change, and therefore an incremental update. 6 -> 7 is a major version number change, and yet, there's probably more difference between 2k and XP than there is between Vista and 7.
What you are seeing is either (a) a company who screwed up their version numbering or (more likely) (b) a company that is trying to distance a new product from an old product that has a bit of a stigma, despite the obvious and glaring similarities.
Expecting 2.6 to be completely new rather than an incremental improvement over 2.4 is like expecting Vista SP1 to be completely new.
The important part to notice is the major version number. That would be "2", in both examples of kernel version numbers, however Vista is Windows "6", and Windows 7 is, well...
New major version number should mean "very new". Windows 7, at this point, is nothing more than a Vista Service Pack that you have to buy.
Let's also not forget the large number of old air-cooled VWs on the road (you specified on the road, not in current production). The the final original Beetle was produced in 2003, which isn't long ago...
almost no car on the road today can be air cooled.
The Australian Ford Falcon has been able to do this since 1999/2000 (the AU model).
You can, in fact, disconnect the radiator hoses and drive (albiet very slowly) while the computer cycles through the the 6 cylinders, 2 at a time, to manage the heat and get you home.
Fail safe cooling (engine can literally run without coolant in it - theoretically it is impossible to cook this engine due to loss of coolant). *This feature un-available while running on LPG.

Or did I miss something?
Where "OK" obviously means "down $500, and stuck with a bloated 3-legged dog".

FBI does do some drug crimes I guess, but usually by accident. They're more into the "cool" crimes like Murder, Sex, and Cyber.
This post is so much entertaining (and possibly accurate) when read without context...
This seems like a fantastic way to help funding the space programme, and Russia isn't exactly awash in cash. Seems stupid.
It shows you that Russians aren't all that smart. If they'd done a couple of weeks of contracting in Iraq, they'd have more space funding than NASA.

A lot of people buying new computers didn't get a choice.
CDs work by blistering aluminium foil with a laser.
Wrong (at least for the vast majority of current cases). Manufactured CDs are pressed, while CD+/-Rs have an organic dye that the laser heats to change its optical properties.
I love this.

Maybe he/she(/it?) doesn't have a /. account?
And how would they have done that? Even TFS says that it doesn't work on visible light.
Did you call me "Abe Lincoln"?
There, fixed that for you.
Like Deja Foo? The feeling that you've screwed this up before?
You still need Windows to run it though, and therein lies the issue.
