Don't start at the kernel, idiot.
Don't start at a compiler or programming language or other system part, fool.
I think some people might be getting lost in what the real problem might be. Your post is spot on, people starting out shouldn't be messing with projects that technical or important. Your delivery however is, in my opinion, the problem. A kid right out of college looking for a place to start helping could be told a lot better than, hey idiot, get lost, in response to a request. That kind of attitude wouldn't fly in a corporate environment, but it has been pretty common in this thread. Civility and understanding can go a long way and do a lot of good to help, even if the answer is no thank you, or not right now.
Pretty hard, as it turns out. I knew I was in trouble when after staring at the "start" screen for a few minutes, I had no idea how to access settings or navigate the file system to get to, say, my NAS unit or USB stick.
You mean to tell us you have 20 year experience with every version of windows from 3.0 forward, and you couldn't pull off hitting the Windows + E key? Windows + D, click the second icon on the task bar? 20 years? Really? Click on the desktop tile, then the explorer icon? No way you actually couldn't figure that out.
I have yet to go to a business as a sysadmin where they didn't use default passwords (P@ss1234, now how many businesses use that gem) which are on just about every device or local admin account.
Not only would it be more interesting to read
I don't know, I thought the story about the basement was rather engaging, and brought back memories of my childhood.
At last I checked it was $40 an hour for a plane, $120 if you need the pilot. If you are going to do aerial photography and you're going to do it right, it isn't going to be cheap.
windows will never have drivers for apple mice/keyboards
Have you tried it? I have for months now been using a USB mac keyboard and mouse in our office server room. Windows 2000 works with it as well as windows 2003. Haven't tried it on NT 4 though.
I too had a friend of mine try to build his own computer. Once he told me the processor kept falling out everytime he raised the tower, I relized that the concept of the lever on the zif socket could be confusing. I'm just impressed he had the sence enough to call before trying to get the heatsink on!
Does anyone think that their virus definitions will be compatible with other anti-virus software?
Does anyone think what? My norton AV definitions aren't compatiable with my co-workers pc-trend AV. Why is MS held to such a standard of compatibility when others use their own propritary formats.
Mod me down if you think I'm picking a fight, but I don't see your argument being the reason it's wrong.
Having a MS antivirus is better than nothing right?
Someone I know recenly bought a new computer, came with Norton AV and 3 months after he started using it, it expired. He's too damn cheap to pay for another year. So isn't MS better than nothing.
Dispite being my friend, I think he has it coming. Too bad!
Then why do you buy "lots" of Dells? They must be doing something right if you continue to give them your money.
Tools for death cause death in exactly the same way that tools for construction cause construction:
What about construction tools used for death? http://nation.foxnews.com/gun-...
Uh, this one is really simple.

Never used that one, we use p@ssw0rd!
Really? I can run Windows on a MacBook Air. How well does an Adamo run OS X?
It'd probably run great if apple would allow it.
