The mere fact that you cannot exactly express 1/3 in a finite number of bits is enough to disprove what you said. I'm not even going to bother bringing up irrational numbers.
Finally, I use the grammar checker in word sometimes. It's advice on how to fix things is usually lousy, but I find it quite useful to flag sentences that are running on or too complicated. It's useful when you have composed something late at night under a deadline.
I must point out how ironic it is that you refer to a grammar checker and then use "It's" where you mean "Its" in the very next sentence!

The problem isn't about money. It's about the fact that (AFAICT) the GPL expressly forbids that sort of thing, and the gimp is licensed under the GPL.
Yeah, this is offtopic. It still needs to be said.

You would also need to shell out money to license the applicable patents
If it's a patent issue, it can't (legally) be put into the gimp AT ALL before the patent expires. Doing so would violate the copyright and/or the patent. This explains why it hasn't been done yet.
...within about a month I can write a program that can convert a monochrome image into an ISO file that, when burned, will do the same thing to the same disks without having shell out extra money for the drive. I'll even release it under the GPL! Hmmm... probably should make that two months (no experience working with a deadline...). Actaully, it may be a bit longer, since I know nothing of image file formats or ISO file formats...
Why yes, I did think of this a few years ago (I just never bothered to tell anyone, since I figured there would be no use for the technology).
The editors I use, in order of increasing preference:
pico
BBEdit
nano (Yes, that's right; I prefer nano over BBEdit. I'm a free software zealot.)
gedit
That's precisely why I installed Gentoo; I wanted to get to know the boot process and configuration. I think my plan worked, at least to some extent. (I also wanted to be able to successfully compile my own kernel, and gcc for that matter.)
Is there any reason why macs can't use the pilot-tools package for *nix?
Actually, there is. Mac OS X does not use the Linux kernel. This means that low-level Linux programs and libraries (including pretty much anything that does pretty much anything with/dev) simply will not compile for Mac OS X, unless they've been ported. I'm sure pilot-tools can and will be ported (if it hasn't already been).
Try making toilet stalls out of metal...oh wait, they do that already...
It could be possible to block WiFi to places that have no cameras, but keep in mind: people don't want a camera watching them using their computers. (At least I don't...)
Those "launchers" on the desktop are not really launchers; they're shortcuts (a.k.a. symbolic links); they point to files, rather than starting programs. To the end user, it may not seem like there should be a distinction, but keep in mind: symbolic links are defined by the filesystem, not by GNOME, and therefore are not comparable to launchers. They simply don't serve the same purpose.
That is not to say that I disagree with the idea that one should be able to change a symbolic link in Nautilus. I just think that that distinction should be pointed out.

FYI In binary, 1/3 is 0.0101010101010101...
As one example of many, have you ever tried Knoppix?

You've obviously never used Mac OS X. You pretty much described their method exactly.
I wouldn't exactly equate the XFree86 people with free software people.
I think you might benifit from my philosophy about people...
The more people are doing something, the dumber they all become.

I'm guessing that Windows Media Player giving you a black box in the video screenshots is not entirely unintentional (that DRM thing...).
