In related news, the FBI has announced that the residents of Westchester county will be required to set up their secure wireless networks in a manner that will allow access to federal officials for general eavesdropping operations.
That seems pretty useful - it happens to me pretty often that after a while I forget what the speed limit is on the road I have been on driving for a while.
Bandwidth is not that important when you work on graphics. I have a reasonably powerful desktop computer at work with most of my data, including large images. I like to connect to that computer from home using my aging laptop and Windows Remote Desktop. Since what travels over the pipes is only the information that gets displayed on the screen, NOT the actual files, I have no problem editing large files in Photoshop remotely - using a good remote computer to do the weightlifting and my laptop as a terminal.
You are confusing NO2 (in the maps) with CO2 (your post). Since the Kyoto protocol tries to regulate CO2 and not NO2, you are completely off the mark here. Btw., nitrogen oxides are produced during any burning process that involves air, because at high temperatures the nitrogen that's present in the air but normally relatively inert does react with the oxygen that's also in the air. So, even hydrogen based cars using air to burn the hydrogen will produce oxides of nitrogen, such as NO2.
2 yrs later? That's when mice get Alzheimer's...

Artificial Prion Created

· Score: 3, Interesting
I know people have been struggling to show that a synthetic prion can cause a disease, thereby proving beyond any doubt that it really is the prion protein (no virus, no bacterium) that causes the disease, and this may be the proof. But at 2 years of age mice are usually about to die, so this doesn't seem that convincing... It will depend on the details. Btw., there is a lot of other evidence that prions cause the mad cow disease and the human variant Creutzfeld-Jakob's disease, but if this report is true, that really nails it. Another btw.: the original paper was published in Science, Nature only refers to the Science article.
Could this lead to tracking purchases to enforce taxes, or prohibit purchases from unauthorized countries (no allofmp3 from outside of Russia)?
I agree - depressing. Thanks for the 'mod up', btw.

Did anyone notice that if you work on multiple documents you can switch between them by clicking on the tab at the top? Cool.
I am curious to see if it's going to take off without pr0n...

I doubt it.

You can actually drag the map with your mouse to move the part that's being displayed. Way cool!

Why not? The price is surely going to come down in a year or two, and the low power consumption and speed would be great.
Now that the share price is down...
So, why doesn't IBM just BUY SCO, now that the share price is coming down?
