I dunno. My attitude is if I can't have one, no one else should get to either. Things like breeder reactors, and automatic weapons come to mind.. If they would let me fire a Tommy-gun, I would move, just to live in a nuclear-free area.
Transition that to today, the second amendment enshrines our privilege to hunt squirrels, rather than defend against our criminal government. Nowadays, such a terrorist attack on legal government would probably end in an air strike. Born & raised in CA; my clan live in the Osborne's hometown though.
You didn't mention climate change. Of course it's all hypothetical at this time, but factoring together population growth and mobility with the northern advance of the noxious insects, maybe some mountain cabin with ku klux krazy neighbors might not be so bad an idea, at that.
I suppose it is my own fault, since I don't filter my discussion, but I gather this subject is a honeypot for trolls. Aren't we droll. Good shunt for the hyper-critical troll seeking moderators.
I've often thought that more care should be given to reducing our import quotas of tropical and Asian pathogens. A rather non-trivial problem naturally.
32 bit Windows XP has a 4 GB limit on swap. I made my E: drive 4GB, (outer rims of the second hard disk) and use that. I have 4 GB of RAM, but leave so many pages open on Firefox that I probably use a bit of swap now and then, I just set a counter on it now as I am curious how much it actually gets used.
Popular culture has driven cognitive dissonance to be the leading engine of commerce for the twenty-first century. Reactionary Luddites are being dealt with in Arabia and elsewhere.
I read TFA and skimmed the comments to here, am still wondering, how does this percent of (gross?) deal compare with the way it works for licensed radio broadcasters? Anyone grok?
It is interesting what people make a big deal about isn't it? Left and Right, people need to chill about the BIG ISSUES and figure out what really matters.
The fearful IDIOTS tend to be clustered in the zealous extremes of both sides of that issue. I've noticed that it is most difficult to have a reasoned debate about any issue that provokes physical fear, at least with people who embrace the fear.
Okay, so you wrote the parent. I'm referring to your suggestion that some people's votes should carry more weight, or for that matter, some people aren't qualified to vote. I submit G.W. Bush as prima fascia evidence that you are correct. However, you are advocating a position on a slippery slope, which we have only recently vacated. I used to advocate mandatory voter education, until I came to accept the futility of that concept. We're talking monolingual Americans here, okay? Welcome to the Tyranny of the Majority. Adapt and survive.
Don't the scientists gripe about that as well?

Banana Slugs?
It's been a while now. Did we bork something?
There was an article?

apparently as qualified as the average voter. RTFA.
The only remotely "main stream" artist that I listen to, not counting records from dead guys.
Another case of the judge protecting a report from public scrutiny. I don't know about justice, but decorum must be preserved.
I sort of envy all the Jersey voters, it sounds like they don't have to bother to go to the polls this year.

I dropped this rock on my toe. Where's my lawyer?

"You knew this would happen, didn't you?"
TFA was vague and misleading.

to endeavor unto endeavor.
If they blow this, will we still have to hear about the superior wisdom of our sophisticated European Overlords?
