    True, but to the best of my knowledge most of those files just use DivX and MP3/AAC codecs embedded in an Ogg transport layer. They don't usually use Vorbis or any of the Ogg project's free codecs.

    On the other hand, the situation is likely to change soon, since Ogg Theora is approaching beta.

    Yeah, you need to get pencil and paper, and MD5-hash your passwords by hand (don't use a calculator! you fool!)

    Then you just use a little magnetic stylus or something and toggle the bits on your hard-drive platter. You do have your hard drive geometry and the sector address for /etc/passwd memorized, don't you?

    Until you've taken proper precautions like this, don't fool yourself into thinking you're safe.

    This sounds really cool. Is there a timeline or plan for this, or any indication of when it'll be ready for at least casual use?

    I know some other people mentioned this, but I just want to add that using Control-L also allows you to open URLs. Just now I did Control-L "http://www.google.com/" and got the full HTML source, complete with syntax highlighting.

    The island's only about a mile and a half across; using this picture and the webcam image, it's pretty obvious where the camera has to be to within about a quarter-mile.

    Speak for yourself. I'm lucky to have a 256k ADSL line, and even that fluctuates a lot in terms of actual throughput. Not everybody enjoys the same cheap, accessible broadband access that you seem to.
