We had a BFG card in my VFX shop - and what we originally thought was a faulty Mobo, became two faulty Mobos, then three. HEY! Time to stop putting that crappy card in our machines! After a very expensive testing process, we discovered that it was, in fact the BFG card that was blowing up our systems. Good luck getting them to acknowledge that... BFG YOU WILL NOT BE MISSED!
This is older than my grandma.
Also somehow slashdot thinks I have bad karma for speaking r e a l i t y.
Mod me down please to the evil troll diety level...
Hopefully the mobo manufacturers won't overlook this somewhat essential technology, which has not been updated in about 15 years... I have been enjoying the benefits of diskless booting a fresh os on 50+ machines for only about a year, I fear I cannot look back!
I do visual effects for film, i work in front of both my laptop and an array of different screens for 14 hrs a day on the regular.
Glossy screens are just not acceptable for the calibration and perception standards required in these environments - sorry I wont be buying, and I already had my credit card to go.
If they change it up I will be back on the shipping list,
my 2cents
The iPhones audio quality is lacking sorely, the micorphopne is barely good enough, the speaker and earpiece are worse.
But even more frustrating than that, iPhone creates terrible audio interference wherever I go in my daily tasks as a post production professional. It actually interferes with most of the apple attached hardware we use - protools, built in apple audio etc. Its quite disturbing when a 1000 watt audio system starts clicking unbearably loudly, your phone rings a few moments after and everyone in the room thinks you are a total tool.
Just my 2 cents

I have been using these for my post production company for years since logitech got rid of the cordless trackman FX.
It has a big red ball and your forearm doesn't cross over the radius and ulna bones like when you are using the kensington (your hand is in a more moderate close to pistol grip position)
You can also hold a pen in that hand if you have a wacom or, better yet an intuos LCD pen device - thats my regular rig and its awesome.
SGI is history in this biz...
There is no way to cost effectively use those boxes anymore. I work at DD and we use a linux/win2k renderfarm.
Only thing SGIs are good for is Flame...
Also, since this guy is running After Effects, he's either Win or Mac.
Every time you find a bug, a little food pellet will drop into your cage. To make it more exciting, replace said food pellet with your favorite vice!
These were modern 'jumperless' ASUS Mobos...

www.bonetown.com First Person Screwer....
Haha, whats even funnier is comments like this only get a score of 2 and are sooooo true.
Subtitles don't fade in and out. The Maya and Pro tools versions are funnier....
Like a Jr High science fair project for the mentally disabled. They are paying this guy for what? Nothing to see here, move along....

really I'll give you a maya license!
Thats 416 1 TB drives - more than enough to backup the digital data for a few feature films several times....

It's a big Universe, and more than likely earth got 'contaminated' at some point. Its all space dust anyway...
