A risky business, but there were thankfully no (recorded) casualties. It does make you realise that for some things it's a really good idea to look at the code!
Nice, in a way, to see the French and US governments working together too.
I concede it may be luck, good on yours or just bad on mine, but I have 5 dead LaCie devices here. Generally the internal parts can be taken out and just used as internal IDE or SCSI drives, as they're made by Toshiba, Yamaha or similar suppliers. It's the USB or firewire bridges supplied by LaCie that tends to fail in my experience.
LaCie devices are generally flakey in my experience. They're also generally overpriced. When the 20gb ipod came out they were asking more for their 20Gb pocket firewire drive.
I can't remember why I added you as a 'foe', but generally I add people who post what I see as irrelevent comments so that I'm less likely to see them in the future. If that person does make a comment that is good moderation will probably counteract the 'foe' penalty, and if I think is worth replying to I will do so.
I've quoted foe throughout as I think it's a stupid word for a "I'm less interested in this persons opinion than average" flag.
It's a politically motivated law. Grumpy Old Men(tm) moan about kids hanging around. Government say "Vote for us, we'll make it illegal". If the police actually enforced the law it'd be very unpopular, probably challenged under human rights law.
I had a user who wanted gentoo on their PC the other day. It had a 9600 based OEM card.
You have to use the ATI binary drivers, and they're a little flakey from the gentoo package; if you ran the X server multiple times in succession the machine would lock up so only the magic sysrq could save you. However, the drivers downloaded directly from ATI's site seemed to work fine, despite being identical size.
It could have just been fluke, I didn't have the time to debug the problem properly. I also didn't have time to do any benchmarking.
I wonder if the files will be atrac3. If they are a WMP plugin would be great as I have loads of atrac3 files which I have to use on an old win98 machine as openmg pukepox doesn't work on my win2k machine.
I tried that. They snail mailed me back: On 10 March 2003 Nominet UK launched a new online tag change mechanism that replaces the older manual system of faxing tag change requests to Nominet. You will need to complete the online form to initiated your tag change request. Full details can be found online at http://www.nominet.org.uk under the section 'Making changes to your domain name' and select 'Changing your registration agent (ISP)'
I went through the forms and they asked for my CC# with an 80 quid bill.
Non-profit doesn't mean that some of the costs are excessive.
I was under the impression that Nominet don't allow re-registration if a domain expires, only if it's explicitly released. My domain lapsed a year or so ago (registrar didn't renew it for me in time) but is still in my name, if inactive. They charge about 80 to reactivate a domain, such a money making exercise.
If you're really bothered fall off your pushbike onto your laptop, that's what I did and now my TiBook has that classic "warped corner with peeling paint" that everyone was talking about last year.
Pure TNT is highly unstable and will go off with a hit from a hammer. You're probably thinking of dynamite where TNT is mixed with keiselguhr (a type of clay) which is far more stable, as long as the two stay mixed. If old style dynamite is left too long the TNT can leak out, often called "weeping jelly". This stuff is very unstable, as seen in MacGyver.
Possibly because the wall is a hard surface? I used to use a concrete desk (it had a microscope on it, so it had to be heavy and immobile) and I couldn't use most ballpoints on that because the area of contact was low.
Openoffice 1.1 has a rudimentary DB interface. It needs work, but a graphical query design (similar to access's) is there already. The backend can be any odbc or jdbc database, as far as I can tell.
You imply they check the links! Next you'll say they read the articles they link to.
Linking to the main dns load balancer might be more productive.

Yes, it's pretty impressive what a few tweaks can do; Romero was almost correct when he said that after the Quake engine the rest would be down to the artists.

A bunch of idiots battling the bureaucracy and losing, I assume.
Sorry you feel that way.

A couple of links to pictures would have been nice, especially when examining Apple related kit as design is more important than generic stuff.
You know, that's not a bad idea for a game...

Last person I told this story said "I didn't know you rode a motorbike", so I was trying to keep things clear :P
My notes[pdf,344k] on the subject, a nice table if I do say so myself.

The original (notes.pdf) is from dvipdfm, the selected page were extracted with MacOSX Preview.app. Must be some poor creation routines there.

Possibly 90% are shunned, 9% are treated normally and 1% are worshipped.
As a dyslexic I didn't notice the spelling error and read it as secure, which I suspect is what the OP intended.

Thanks, I did know about it, but I've not got round to using it in anger :)
I'll probably go and download it now, not like I'm doing anything useful!

Shows you can be a "good guy" but also have the kind of all-out war that the real police can't get away with. (Often.)
