Apparently, Netflix doesn't have a column in their database saying WHAT language a movie uses principally, it just has a flag saying it is not English.
It doesn't store any data about the language, actually. (It's at least not something that is available for the contestants.) All relations between movies (same language, similar length, same genre, same actors, similar number of characters and what not) are supposed to shine throught in users' ratings. That means that with enough ratings in the database, you are supposed to get recommendations that match any criterion you (and others) might have had when rating movies high before.
Yeah, let's do away with all of this time zone crap too.
Sure, let's. Having the clock say "00:00" in the afternoon (or whatever) wouldn't be any more tricky than having it as it is now. (The changing could perhaps cause more hassle, but who are we if we can't change things?!)
I would have thought it was a (slightly tasteless) joke. This guy "Admiral Ackbar" sounds an awful lot like "Allahu Akbar", which some people, I imagine, might be shouting as they crash flying machines in to things.
You seem to be into audio recording. I'd like to build a computer for that purpose. Do you have any links (or direct information) about what I should keep in mind when I choose my components? I would really appreciate that!
(I intend to use Linux, if that makes any difference.)
Hmm. The diameter is the largest distance between two points in the object (reactor) that can be found, right? The diameter ought to be at least 6.096 m then.:p
The diameter of a subset of a metric space is the least upper bound of the distances between pairs of points in the subset. So, if A is the subset, the diameter is
sup { d(x, y) | x, y A } .
I recieved the newsletter earlier today, and I still haven't figured out why this isn't part of the ordinary GPL. Perhaps GPLv3.1, if they forgot it in version 3.
EU = you. If you want out, just vote in a government that wants out.
You bet I do. I'm just too few.
Or get involved and try to steer Europe in the right direction.
Hehe, I have adopted a pessimistic attitude when it comes to politics (and many similar areas where one could possibly make a change): It's not worth it. If I worked with it all my life, I could probably change some small things, but it's too big a ship to turn. Even the random waves have a bigger influence than I. I am probably better off just trying to stay out of harm's way.
...is making it easier for people to start helping out. Decent discussion pages for starters. Right now they are plain wiki pages, relying on users to indent themselves to indicate whom they are replying to. They need proper methods for quoting and linking to individual posts. What is now called "archiving" (i.e., moving old comments to a separate page) wouldn't be so cumbersome anymore. As it is, you do it manually or with a program that parses the page. Silly.
A lot of other things confuse a newcomer as well. There are 9 policiesand 23 guidelines, each with a loong page of its own.
Uploading files isn't too simple either. (A lot of instructional text that would put anyone off.) Here is also one of many examples of poor separation between content and presentation. You specify a license by including the appropriate box on the description page of the file. It should be a flag, people!
If you click on "Editing help", you are greeted with one rudimentary page which probably don't cover what you want and tons of links to similar pages with overlapping content.
Actually, you'd do the same even if the game was cheap to make.

Oups, you are right. I'll creep back into my hole now.
Um. That would be called "changing your work hours".

What about its effects on the well-being of us, the humans?
(Provided energy use is bad for the planet, the increase of that might be important, if it's large.)
You should have seen the faces of the band!
Wow, Internet Explorer is already in version, eh... 5040.

a placebo pill when I have a headache.
Ooo, music person!

Are you sure? How about dismemberment?
How can you post this without mentioning why they want him barred?

So, what requirements should a submission fulfill? I can't find them!
How does their argument go?
You bet I do. I'm just too few.

As if Europe even was a single country with a common law. (Err, a law in common, that is.)
Things seem to be going that way, unfortunately (EU, get out of Sweden now, please!), but we're not there yet.
They aren't really soldiers then, are they?
I hope libraries in other countries will be included as well. Please start with Sweden. :-)

Want to discuss something? First, you need to find out whether it should go on the Village pump or the Request for comment.
Dispute? Gotta read up on negotiation, mediation and arbitration. I know I would sooner give up.

Surveilling protest rallies like this is creepy.
Anyway, were none of these captured? If so, I'm sure the crafty Slashdot crowd could produce some photos.
More like... Oh, you're done?
