It would be nice if someone would do this for all computer related things. You can't just zoom in on an already fuzzy picture and sharpen it perfectly! etc...
I registered for a quarterly IGN account the other day, just for E3. I could care less about the content they have the rest of the year...I wonder how many other people do this each year?
I imagine from what I've heard that it will probably be a standard sized gamepad with an analogue pad on the left and 4 buttons (not sure if they'll stick with the GC style or go back to diamond) on the right. You'll have at least two triggers just like the GC. The major difference will be that instead of the d-pad and c-stick you'll have a big lcd touch screen in the center. Think of the Dreamcast's little LCD screen in the controller, but to the next level. Couple that with the gyros and wireless...and it's not really THAT weird an idea...but could still be very revolutionary in the posibilities of what you could do with it.
This has nothing to do with Bush or Republicans, Clinton's the one who signed the DMCA...lol. It's a problem for all Americans reguardless of their politics.
Yes I did. But, the original purpose for corporations were usually community project type situations where they wanted to build a bridge or something and no one wanted the liability if it failed...far from what it is today.
It was fine until they loosened the restrictions on corporations. You can thank the lobbiests and lawyers for that. Did you know that corporations are considered "citizens" and have almost all the same rights as a person? Here's a pretty good look at why things are the way they are now
Don't be too surprised when they release a WoW for the Xbox 360, and Sony puts EQ2 on the PS3... Counterstrike 1 already came out for the orignal Xbox, so part 2 will probably be a launch title, or soon after, for the 360 too.
I think MS has already given up on the current Xbox, it was merely their practice system before they really knew how to dominate the industry. Does anyone else smell a new anti-trust suit headed their way in about 5-10 years???
The DVD player thing is mainly just about Japan. In Japan companies were having a hard time convincing the public to make the switch, and the PS2 kind of ushered it into popularity. In American and Europe that was not so much the case, and by the time the Xbox and Gamecube (Japan got a dvd edition) came out it didn't matter anymore..
Actually, Japan hasn't been the largest market for games for quite a few years now... When Sony made the PS1 cool for non-gamers to get on board, America's sales soared. The US has the largest portion of the market these days (development as well), while the Japanese market continues to shrink each year. Apparently the Japanese care about quality and so they realize that 90% of games coming out are crap unlike the consumers over here.;)
As far as Xbox 360 being successful in Japan this time, it looks like they've gotten some pretty important Japanese developers on board to make it more appealing there. Many developers begrudgedly designed games for the PS2 because it was a nightmare to program on, but still had the largest market share. If there is anywhere near a tie for first place, the system that is easier to develop for will surely win out, although all 3 systems look to be pretty much the same machine...all 3 have IBM power-based processors and a next-gen PC graphics card. I personally think it's time for a console standard to be developed instead of all this non-sense...
There are two reasons why Dreamcast "failed". They didn't have a DVD player and PS2 did (the first year of PS2 sales in japan were almost exclusively for the dvd functionality and not the games). The other, main reason it's no longer with us is the Saturn. The Saturn was such a horrible failure that it put Sega billions of yen in the hole. The Dreamcast would have had to be extremely popular to pull them out, but it didn't take off quite as fast as they hoped/needed. Since you usually don't take a loss on software, it was only natural for them to switch to a software only company. If it weren't for the Saturn, we'd probably still be playing new DC games and hearing rumors about its successor coming out this fall:(
Sounds to me like this guy's trying to promote the idea that PS3 will be unstoppable and there's no use bothering with the Xbox 360. However, from the way things have been going, MS might have quite a powerful little system on their hands. If they market it right, there's a slight chance they could end up with the dominant console this go round...unless Nintendo's Revolution can live up to its name.
Or, maybe he just realizes that the industry is about to flood the market with crappy games and too many choices for consumers...thus causing everyone's sales to slump. No matter how powerful any of the new systems are, it's going to be hard to explain to Joe Average why he needs a new system when the one he's got looks just fine to him/her...
I really wouldn't be surprised if it turned out to be some sort of black ops CIA unit doing it...heh.
Or perhaps an Xbox 360 as opposed the the plain ol' Xbox?
I guess we'll never know if those highschool kids were just talking smack or not since the contest is for 18 or older only...lol :P

Yes, it was a joke...lol. Amazing how people take things around here... ;)
I got my OS from these guys...and I didn't pass the Genuine OS test :(

How is this any different than the about:config pipeling trick for Firefox? Instructions on how to speed up your Firefox pageviewing (for broadband users)
I wonder if they'll be so bold as to give us some video, or at least audio, from the "Burning Down the House" discussion...

we'll just have to wait and see...

I guess people forget that if you're logged in, you can tell slashdot which editors' posts you want to read...
Could possibly go in the "Your Rights" section too. All those people who were afraid of genetic stuff aren't sounding quite as crazy now...
Could you be a little more specific? A google on "CURL" brought up numerous projects that had nothing to do with each other...
What happens when you want to watch some flash cartoons?
I wish they'd spend their time working on something new instead of sequels....
