It looks like you're trying to boot Linux.
Would you like me to help you call Microsoft?
No, go away...*grumble*
It looks like you're trying not to pay your Windows tax, mandatory on all computers and electronic devices (infrared controller included). I'm calling the FBI, have a nice day!
I'm thinking of countries like China or Taiwan who want to work on their own and refuse to rely on foreign technology. They'll still produce their own machines without any form of DRM. Let's hope buying a chinese computer won't be forbidden by our governments in the future... (but it will be for our own protection;)
Actually it was Joel Spolsky. His problem is: he created his own company, he is successfull and doesn't need to worry about his own future. With all these books sold throught FUD, we don't know what's really happening...
According to TS, this iMac was supposed to be for Windows users who had a previous Apple experience with the iPod. My Apple-fanboys friends always show me how OSX is the best OS ever and Apple is a great company. I never thought of buying a Mac before, but MAYBE this cheap Mac would have been a good introduction. It can be the Windows XP killer we've all been waiting for.
But all I see of this Apple world is Steve trying to sue its customers and most loyal fans. I don't think I'm intersted anymore...
I'm a CS student and what I see every day is: You can have EITHER a job you enjoy, or you can have a dull and boring life with a job you hate and your only way to ease the pain (instead of throwing yourself out of the window) is to buy a TV. My choice has been done a long time ago.
Yesterday I spoke with one of my teacher on the algorithms we'll have to find for our project. We had a lot of fun and this is really the kind of guy I'm looking forward to working with in my future. All those who told me that "you can't make a living out of..." before are losers who have failed at making a living from their passions (I'm not saying you're a loser, it's just what I see around me...)
Same thing in France with a tax on "blank media" like CDRs. The number of countries doing this is increasing. I know the courts won't see this as "a right to copy everything" since the tax is already paid, but I'll fell less guilty next time I download something illegally.
No, you will never recreate a file from a hash. That's impossible. The hash is absolutely not a derived work. Because there is an infinite number of bytes combinations, there is (in theory) an infinite number of combinations giving the same hash number. There is no good hash, just bigger hashes to reduce the probability of collisions.
But this is not just technical BS: remember that the SHA0 algorithm has recently been cracked. Both blocks giving the same hash had the same size but just a few bits of difference.
I installed Linux on a 386, you just need a boot floppy, and an ethernet card to pump the programs from another computer. It's pretty useless for me but it installed without problem.
It seems that the only country left who don't want patents is China (and Don't forget Poland!) Jobs were outsourced to India but Indians' jobs are even outsourced to China. Will these laws render this outsourcing process faster now?
What a moronic troll. If you were really serious about what you said, you wouldn't have post it as an AC.
I could troll the same and tell you that Microsoft is the "official" provider of spying-software used by the chinese government. This doesn't seems to disturb you...
As for your representative who said that the company prefers Americans, that's the most stupid statement ever heard, because if you prefer Americans: STAY INSIDE THE USA! Don't try to go outside...
I don't think the transition will be better: you don't know yet which technology will win. You'll stick to one kind of hybrid DVD and hope that it won't be dropped by manufacturers in the future. Worse, you'll have to upgrade to the format of your DVDs, not the format widely accepted later. Your choice is now, the real choice is later (but it will be too late to change:(
Cashiers who ask for info? Tell them they don't need it. And repeat "Here's your money" like a broken toy, it helps!
If you work for a retailer and are forced to ask, ask politely if the client wish to give some info. I'm just a client and I really appreciate when I'm asked instead of trying to answering their threatening demands.
It's not my concern: I refuse anything that has been dubbed (or as I like to call it, interpreted by someone else's brain and spoon-fed to me). And learning new languages is always a good thing for your brain.
In japanese culture, cartoons are for everyone. If cartoon are for kids, everthing drawn is for kids, so art is for kids (Dali, Picasso...) And remember the propaganda cartoons featuring Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck during the WW2.
You'll just have to wait until you can watch it legally.
You're not living in Europe, do you? All the series I download will be available on DVD in a million years, not before. And I won't live a million years to see what I can watch now. Of course if I could buy the DVDs... (and now, I don't want dubbed TV series, I want the original ones)
If this is what happened, I swear I'm not buying one more CD or DVD in my whole life. I'm PISSED OFF enough to improve my crypto skills and help an anonymous P2P project (something like GnuNet or FreeNet).
But I don't care about the rest of the world. Even my teachers say "let's hack something to show you how this algorithm works". I don't need the rest of the world to spoon-feed me (remember this same rest of the world uses words like lol or a/s/l or even weather instead of whether, do you want to be like them?)
The Art of Computer Programming (Donald Knuth) and the dragon book on compilers of course (I'm reading the first and I will buy the second in a few days). If you don't like mathematics, a good book on functional programming will make your brain all warm inside!
It is the Clippy Chip:

But CherryOS does exist! You can download it for free here. If what is said is true, it's just a modified version of PearPC.

I'm sorry but it had to be said: in the article, he really looks like Lemmer in "Parker Lewis can't lose". That has to be improved...

This one's easy: P = NP only if N = 1. That's it, problem solved. But next time, try to do your own homework...

We want this "friendly geek" out of prison while we demand that spammers are put behind bars? This doesn't make sense...

Bram Cohen is innocent. This guy is responsible for everything: he created the language for such an abomination. Without Python, no BitTorrent!
