I'm a little too late to say that but Norah Jones' last album is COPY-PROTECTED in France !!!!!! I haven't bought it for that reason (but the first was OK)
The title of the article is "Open MS Passport" but I have found no (real and useful) source code for the moment. The file verifylogin.php is hidden and the tables of their database are not documented. I understand it's an alpha preview, but it doesn't seem really open to me.
It would have been fun to play with it but security through obscurity... well, you know what I mean.
There's a huge difference between free speech written on a piece of paper and free speech in everyday life. France may suck with laws, I can still say whatever I want. Of course I can't create my own nazi web site but who would do that anyway? If free speech means nazi propaganda, I don't need it.
OTOH I agree that you open the door to all sorts of stupid laws but the door is already wide open...
I hate this kind of solution: What will I do if I want to read my mails on my old 486? Checking prime numbers? That's impossible.
And why wasting time? Just to annoy spammers? this would just be a temporary solution...
My dad tried it one month ago. I told him that I saw the same thing in Zak McKracken and he shouldn't do it. His answer was: Pfff stupid video games.
I hope that taught him a lesson...
I've got a hp48gx and always suffer from this kind of situation: - hey, can you lend me your calculator? - no, you won't know how to use it. - yes I will. - ok, if you really want. - [1] [+]: + Error: Too Few Arguments hey it's not working! - I told you...
It's written in Java so you can disassemble it very easily (Jad for example), look at the source and add whatever you want.
The real question is what will happen to them once the source is on every ftp server...
At the bottom of every Slashdot page is written: 'Comments are owned by the Poster.'
If you read my message, you've just bought yourself a trip to prison...
A few stores already do that: a bar-code scanner combined with ear-plugs. At least you can listen to the full album in the store without stealing anything.
No, you DON'T have to throw violently your iPod to the poster, just stay close enough of it, like the other 50 people trying the service at the same time as you.
Parent is correct, the 24 hours rule is a urban legend in a lot of countries (I've seen it translated more than once).

Writing a brainfuck interpreter is a good exercise that you can do in a very short time.
We will be able to fire a stream of electricity like water out of a hose
The Ghostbusters were already doing that 20 years ago...
Did you mean this video? I know you want it...
OT but the swastika is an indian religious symbol, and it is also used in japanese maps to pinpoint the location of buddhist temples.

I peed my pants the first time Nurse Edna chased me in the kitchen.
Let me be the first to say: YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!
I hope a few people will enjoy the first computer game I ever bought.

1. Revenue is what you take in.
2. Income is what you keep.
3. ???
4. (AKA profit)!!
That's the worst version of the Profit joke I've ever read!
All these guys are now wondering how much ramen one can buy with $500!
I'm too lazy to check but I've read that Battle Royale was based on a comic strip that was itself based on a small movie shown on TV.

Great, you could spam people just by shaking hands!
