I recently installed SuSE 10.0 on my laptop (a little over a week ago), and would like to point out that GNOME is in NO way the default. Though it is true that KDE is no longer the default, though thats just during the installer it asks you which DE you would like to use with the options of KDE, GNOME, or Other (yes, KDE is at the top of the list), though KDE isn't checked by default anymore. YaST's GUI is still Qt based (I think a GTK version is being worked on though). I tried an early version of Kubuntu out and found that it wasn't polished at all, and I encountered lots of bugs (though I think it was a beta). SuSE on the other hand seems to be very polished, YaST works really well and makes configuring/package management very easy.
If you prefer KDE I would recommend trying out SuSE if you haven't, hopefully Ximian won't ruin it though.
You actually have the movies backwards. End of Evangelion is the ending/alt-ending/other of the series. Death from Death & Rebirth was a retelling of the series, and Rebirth was the first half of End of Evangelion.
End of Evangelion is rather twisted, which is rather obvious from the very first scene and words. Anyone that has seen it knows specifically what I'm talking about.
"Honestly, are either of these incidents really that different than if Nintendo were to implement nude characters in super mario bros 3 that was unlocked through an a-b-a-b-a-a-a code?"
You don't get through the 'lockout' by entering a code, you get 'through' it by downloading a mod from the internet for that exact purpose. And that mod could of just as easily include new meshes/textures of nude body parts as 'unlock' the texture in oblivion (the texture is used for layering so that the armor will actually look somewhat correct)
Wow I guess its a good thing that Sound Blaster doesn't make any cards. (Sound Blaster is the name of the series of cards, Creative Labs is the name of the company)
Do others sound better if you DONT go into the situation wanting the others to sound better?
Sun's vision is more relevant today than ever before and is embodied in the product and service breakthroughs it has recently brought to market - from the 'pay-per-view' utility computing Sun Grid and the eco-friendly 32-processor-on-a-chip Coolthreads system, to Sun's innovative software pricing model for the Java Enterprise System and the open sourcing of Java[tm], the Solaris[tm] Operating System and the UltraSPARC T1 chip.
New definition of 'open source', accidental leak, or does the person not have a clue what they are talking about?
I have to second this, I was just at a lan party this weekend, and we were all told to make sure steam was completely updated before hand (which took a good while), and I followed the guide to get steam to work in offline mode, yet I was only allowed to play Half-Life 2:DM when in offline mode (I got something like an operation prohibited error on HL/CS/HL2/CSS/DoD). I had to run it in offline mode because we weren't allowed to connect the lan to the internet (it was at a university's campus).
Also it seems every single freaking steam update breaks it on Wine in some way (I tried to play on Windows at the lan, since I couldn't get the new version to work with Wine).
The second and third plugin looks to be a lot better than the horse armor (one of them is a new quest, and the other is a pretty neat sounding wizard's tower). Don't forget that it also costs them money to make the plugins (its not like it magically appears), so there is a certain amount of sells that would be a break even point (though for the horse armor I doubt its too high).
Theres several cheat plugins already out there, and also theres the console to change all the settings while in the game!
On the other hand theres also plugins that slow level so it takes longer to level up, and many other things to make the game harder (great if you find Oblivion to be too easy).
Theres a few community made plugins out that remove the level scaling for monsters (so at any level you can find any level monster), and also ones that make it so that higher level bandits will still have more common armor and stuff, and the 'überloot' will be much rarer.
"Personally as a big fan of Morrowind, I wouldn't be caught dead with anything other then the PC version simply for the mods. Don't know why any Elder Scrolls fan could do without the mods."
Speaking as one of the people that bought Morrowind for the XBox, I'll tell you why I did that: I had no clue about the plugins on the PC version, I didn't even know there was a PC version. Morrowind was the first time I had ever heard of the Elder Scrolls.
I agree that the horse armor thing is pretty stupid, though the 2 up-coming plugins (Orrery & Wizard's Tower) they show look pretty cool, and probably are actually worth the $2, though I'm sure there will be many free plugins that will be pretty similar.
I doubt I will buy any of the plugins from obliviondownloads.com, though hopefully they will release expansion packs for Oblivion (like they did for Morrowind) and I already expect to be buying all of them this time around (unfortunately I had bought the xbox version of Morrowind so I couldn't get any of the expansion packs without completely rebuying the game, I didn't make that mistake again with Oblivion).
Phonon is going to be a tiny layer KDE layer that all apps that want to output sound can use. Arts isn't as much a 'layer' as much as an entire sound server. Phonon will be pretty a little part of kdelibs, not an independent app.
KDE4 will (possibly, not 100% final yet) use an abstraction layer instead of directly using a sound system. This way the end user can decide which to use, and there are plans for gstreamer, xine, nmm, and arts so far I believe.

CmdrTaco has a lot to show for it, because of him countless servers have met their firey death in a blaze of horrible, horrible pain.
Now its time... I fear to tell I've been holding it back so long...
"I wanted Shinji to die as quickly as possible, just to shut up his whining."
I think that was intentionally, especially considering the ending was pretty much a slap in the face.

When is /. going to grow up and quit covering this nonsense. No adult CARES about these silly computers. Grow up guys.
(mod me down if you wish... that doesn't change the truth)
Hopefully you're not using OpenOffice or Firefox then.
That "-x" should be "-X"
From the ssh man pages:
-x Disables X11 forwarding.

It wasn't e-donkey, it was e-mule. emule is an open source client for the e-donkey network.

Dvorak != Dvorak keyboard layout

What happens if the copy in /WINDOWS/WIN32/HELPFILES is deleted/replaced first? Sounds like a bandaid to me...

Welcome to 10 years ago.

"but where else can you play hacking capture the flag?"
The internet, like all the other hackers are already doing?
Oblivion is on a DVD, not a CD. I don't think I would of had enough money to buy it using your pricing model...
