Yep. I see lots of 20 and 30 year old guys in construction / fishing / general labor making $40 - $70 / hr on a high school GED. Works OK until you hit 50 and you realize that your back / hips / knees weren't designed to do this for another 30 years.

If you are having an issue like that, then you should have the knowledge and technical know how to change the connectors with something non standard. Say for example, take the ethernet port and replace it with an 8 pin DIN connector. No chance of that being plugged into the wrong network accidentally.

(Yes, I used a DIN as it comes to mind, but it could have issues, as other things use it, you could make a completely different connector for it if you wanted.)

All you have to do is to wire the Ethernet cables differently from standards (and color code them lest hours of amusement and consternation ensue).

Making a movie from a novel is rather hard. They are different experiences, rely on different cues, have different timings and often play to different audiences.

Yes, Blade Runner isn't Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. Aliens is just Giger and Dan O'Bannon and bog knows what Prometheus was about aside from Charleze Theron in a tight fitting flight suit, but it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

We know that life has started out in an anaerobic environment with water present. Everything else is up for grabs. So if you're looking for life-as-we-know-it, it makes sense to go with the conditions we already know works.

TF Headline is, of course, hyperbolic. Alien life doesn't necessarily require conditions similar to earth. But that's were the money is. If you have limit the types of planet systems you will spend the time and money to look carefully at, you just might go with what has worked.
