On top of it all, on what planet is Gabe living where everyone has broadband enough to want to patch their Valve console games over and over? I can do other things on my computer while it downloads patches. On a console, you get to stare at a progress screen until it's done. No good. Especially not at 50 bucks a pop for console games.
Not true, the new XBOX 360 dashboard can be accessed at any time any game is running by pressing the dashboard button on the controller. Updates should be handled by that and you can play a different game while you wait for update (or maybe even play the same game and be prompted to restart it)
You know why? Because the publisher knows it can't be patched, so they'll test the _hell_ out of it before release. And if they're running out of time or budget, they'll cancel a game, but never shove an unfinished piece of crap out the door.
Sorry but look at Enter The Matrix and all the other unfinished buggy pieces of shit on consoles. Your wrong. If someone is going to release a crap game it's going to happen if they can patch it later or not regardless. Give Enter The Matrix some slack though they only had 3 days to go from Alpha to Final due to their tight schedule to tie in with the movie.
I can think of only exactly _two_ console games that ever needed a patch, out of the literally _hundreds_ I own. (And out of those two, one had a free replacement from the publisher, and the other "only" had multiplayer exploits, but was otherwise rock-solid and enjoyable as a single-player game.)
To be honest the single player in Halo 2 wasn't as good as the original. I liked more use of vehicles though, at least I wasn't stuck trudging around all day. If he's so genetically engineered why can't he just run forever?
Now, do you think the guy that is buying the bootleg of Rush Hour 2 (off of ebay or ny street corner, take your pick) is going to ever buy the real deal? Shit no. He just spent money on it; why would he shell out more on the real thing just to have a second copy?
I think he would. Bootlegs of movies are often in poor quality with no surround sound or extras. If the movie is good you'll probarbly buy it on DVD for the "full experience" whatever that catchphrase means these days.
You must protect your name. If someone copyrights your name they can stop you from using it. It's one of the stupid things that copyrights help avoid....and cause
It's only if you are using the Linux name on something that is earning money. It is the name you pay for. You don't have to pay for it but if someone else gets a license for the same copyright as your name they can send a cease and desist. You are buying protection.
Opera is not a free browser. The average user won't be using it, if you are techy enough to pay for a browser your going to know how to use BitTorrent.
Google Desktop 2.0 is beginning to take shape as a browser in itself as the need for a Firefox or IE is almost eliminated.
Well it's a nice addition to the system but I don't think I'll replace Firefox with it. It'll take awhile for them to port extensions to the Google Desktop thing and even still it's not cross platform.
The question is will other distributors and studios follow ADV's example or stick to their current distribution models?
Well it's not really a distribution model. They are just releasing promo material. You can already get promo material from most distributors just not over BitTorrent. This is really nothing new.
Hey, stop trolling. I found that game fun for awhile until I realised you could just drive through everything on the tracks that you placed with the level editor. I had a ton of wildlife on there too!!!
The article name is misleading as the Quake 3 source has been slated for release for a very long time now. It was pushed back because someone licensed the engine right at the end of its life cycle.
It's certainly an interesting concept but i'd like to see what savings are passed on as a result. I've seen too many services like this charge more or the same for something you could buy on DVD.
and if it's free there'd have to be ads. I suppose it would be nice to get an entire season of a show I want to watch rather than have to wait weeks. But then the producers would have to increase the release schedule's.

The latest version of Steam actually uses 60mb of ram. It also randomly uses parts of your cpu for some odd reason.

Yea well i've read it a couple times and seen the movie twice, and I still didn't find it funny. Beat that!
the price tag is not

How does this building secure the computers? Does it use laser cutty things like on Resident Evil?
You mean like the Voodoo2 mod?

No, only if you are generating revenue from the name.
Mod parent insightful. I need to get a date.

Apparently the summary was TFA. Not very high calibur stuff either.
No as the Dreamcast uses different servers to the PC version afaik. Also, it's just the engine not the entire game.

I just don't see it working.
Spoken like a true person who hasn't seen a modded xbox.
