  1. Organic Food/Open Source its Marketing on How Open Does Open Source Need to be? · · Score: 0

This is just a marketing ploy. Software companies are releasing small bits of code and claiming its open source for the sake of marketing. This is no different than food companies throwing in some soy and calling it organic food. Actually I think its more like the cereal FrootLoops. Make it sound like it has fruit in it when you name it "Froot"Loops. Maybe if they just say its "The door was slightly opened for a second source" that would be more fitting.

The article was lacking on what would be some interesting information. I would like to know what Trojan was downloaded and how was it detected. Did the A.V. detetect the Trojan or did someone monitoring the network detect an unusual amount of data being sent out from the system in question? How long was the computer infected? Did the trojan install a backdoor such as an FTP or did it just redirect the browser to a porn site? Was this a laptop that was taken home or a desktop located in the agency office? Without any of this information the article is just fluff.

My idea of the real Classics - Go back to the '60s when games were played by flipping a set of various switches and you waiting for the machine to do anything as you stare at a seven inch b/w CRT, all done at MIT, input with punch cards. THAT is classic, people, and it started the whole electronic games industry.
But, did it have a slot for you to slide in a quarter? :P

You are right. Tempest only looks right on the orignal arcade display. I've tried it on Playstation and MAME and it just doesn't feel right. Did anyone ever have a watch that you could play Frogger on?

I have to agree with you there. The original Guantlet rocked! I remember blowing several 20 dollar bills in birthday money one long session of Guantlet. Now, when I play it on MAME I always think about all the cash I spent playing it. This story has me feeling extra nostalgic today.

    Tetris
    Super Mario 1 & 3
    Frozen Bubble
    Sonic the Hedgehog
    Dig Dug
    PaperBoy
    Dr. Mario
    Need I say more?

What are you talking about? Are you like in your 20's? The real classics are Asteroids, Space Invaders, Temptest, Pacman, and Donkey Kong. You got to love the kids who think Mario first appeared in Super Mario Bros. Dragons Lair didn't have the best game play however it did have the ability to burn an impression in your mind as you stared in awe. "Oooohhh, it looks like an animated cartoon."

  12. Re:Open encyclopedias are prone to bias on Wal-mart's Wikipedia War · · Score: 0

Very good point Wikipedia is a great source if you want to look up the OSI Model or IPV6 but as soon as you touch the hot topics religion, politics and culture the articles become very biased. However, usually there are bias opinions on both sides with references linked in the discussion area. The discussion area is usually a good starting point to do further research on a topic and to look up both viewpoints and then decide for yourself what you believe. For the most part I would say that Wikipedia has been a great resource to society.

If people don't like working for corporations they always have the option of starting up their own business and working for themselves. The other option is getting an MBA and learning business where you can work your way up the ladder on the business side instead of being in the trenches of the Data Center. Either way everyone has options.

The ACLU is defending the marijuna medical use program in Hawaii. My point is they see fit to defend this program initiated by the government of Hawaii but do not support the right of Utah to pass anti-porn laws. The state of Utah should be allowed to pass these anti-porn laws just as Hawaii has a right to start a marijuna medical program. Or does the ACLU only side with Pornographers and followers of Wavy Gravy?
