  1. Re:So goes a once-talented filmmaker on Lucas Loses Star Wars Stormtrooper Copyright Case · · Score: 1

This may be hard for a lot of younger people to believe, but there was actually a time in Hollywood when George Lucas was considered an incredible up-and-coming young director. Coming off of American Graffiti, a lot of people were thinking he would be the next Francis Ford Coppola. He was widely regarded as being in the same league (maybe an even better one) as Martin Scorsese coming off Mean Streets.

But then the greed got him. An afterthought merchandising deal on Star Wars meant that his big money-maker from that point on was toys and merchandise, not movies. He stopped directing and let his best years pass him by. The ten-year-rule for directors is that, give or take, most directors have about 10 years of truly creative energy. And with the mountain of money he was sitting on from toys, he just sat back and let his expire. Now we'll never know what he might have done if he had to struggle, if he had kept working.

That's a great lesson for you young creative types out there. Careful what you wish for.

That is the best summary of Lucas I have ever heard.

    thank you.

    Not true.

IBM was looking for an OS, which MS said, we can deliver, then they went and got QDOS and made it into MSDOS, or M-Dos, as it was put above.

In fact, you can find that in a few places:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MS-DOS
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_PC_DOS

Now, at the time, MS had made a unix OS, but hadn't even considered (from what i can find) doing a 8086 OS until the chance came with IBM.

Ya, i came across some sites like that.

Was looking for flac recordings of Chris and Cosey, and from some sites that "sell" flac copies of the song.

While I know they are doing something illegal, I'll bet most people don't realize it.

Yes, of course I found a place to download them for free. http://welikeitlossless.blogspot.com/ (no, i have nothing to do with that blog, nor do they know i'm sharing their info here)

And the only reason i can think that paypal is doing this, is they are getting more money for the music industry to do this then they are earning from the peeps that are selling illegal music.

I have a good idea, why don't you Dev's start making decent shit, quit with this bullshit "Hollywood" of the games industries and get back to making good games that are fun to play, instead of big ass Triple AAA titles, that takes millions to billions of dollars to make, and has less then 8 hours play time.

Well, we don't find you qualified for spokesman, but we do have janitorial."

Weird, I just pay for internet, and somehow i get to watch movies and tv shows without paying netflix, or anyone else.

Let's look at the reality of the situation. It cost netflix a lot less money to stream movies then it does to mail out dvd's of movies. So ya, times are tough, the cost of everything is up, so Netflix needs to raise the price of it's DVD operations.

If money is tight, just download the videos from the internet for free. I don't see why having to pay corporations who like bleeding their "customers" while cheating their "employees" as much as they can is a smart way to spend your limited funds.
