My old roommate (who was very hot and used to dance at the strip clubs) took a bunch of nude pictures of herself with her Verizon blackberry. When her blackberry died she took out the card and sent the phone back for warranty replacement. When she got the replacement phone and put in the card she couldn't find any of her pictures or anything so she asked me for help.
Turned out she had kept the (completely useless) vodaphone simcard, and left the sdcard full of pictures in the phone. So now some lucky Verizon warehouse tech has an sdcard full of her nudes.
I think I downloaded those pics from thepiratebay...
I woman I know took her PC in for work and found out they were directing her webcam video to their domain. Now, had she not been techie enough, she never would've known to look for that. Who knows what else they did with her computer?
I've seen shows were people take their cars into shops to get repaired and the shops take sledgehammers to the car to drum up more sales.
I don't think that's how I'd interpret any of that. Consider this: You're 90-something, you shit yourself continually, you forget what you are doing periodically, and it's painful to continue to exist. That is, you are in constant pain. The 'solution' to this is that you keep munching down pain pills that slowly kill the rest of your organs, offering up delightful side-effects all the while.
I don't think that's a societal issue in the way you are thinking it is, unless your idea of a solution is to have "old people in pain" pride parades where you spread awareness of their constant pain and agony, or something, because you think that will make it go away?
I don't know about other people, but I will not live that way, I plan on dying in my 60's. Unless technology changes in such a way that I got better options. But then unlike most people, death isn't what scares me.
This is what happens when dams are built. It doesn't matter if it's meant to prevent flooding or generate electricity. Either way, animals are genocided and humans benefit. Maybe we could use less electricity so we don't need so many damn dams.
I have noticed most of these calls come disguised via google voice numbers. They change their numbers nonstop, and the majority of the time when you press one to talk to an operator the system is overloaded and just hangs up on you. I knew they were making crazy money when I saw that. If they can't even handle the amount of traffic the robodialer is generating for them, they are obviously being very successful.
Sounds like your trolling, because google voice doesn't have special numbers, it has numbers it's able to buy up from whomever is in charge of those.
Unless your saying that the called ID say's it's Google Voice or something, then it's probably a spoof ID. If they were using google's system to do robocalls, google could pick up on that very easy and shut it down.
I have been receiving no less than 3 calls a week for the last 6 months from "Card Services" with this robocall. The numbers were always different, so blocking didn't help.
Often the calls came in as late as 9:00 p.m., which was seriously annoying.
I've been lucky, not only is my cell phone number clean, my google voice number is also. clean meaning I don't get calls for previous owners of the numbers, nor do I get robo calls, or anything like that. but my last 3 cellphone numbers have been dirty. I haven't had a land line in 20 years or so. I could get one, for cheap even, but see no need.
Best part is, when I had dirty cell phones, I'd set google voice up to show my google voice number when i get calls, so if I see any other calls, I just let it go voicemail (which I never checked).
I like winamp. But then i've been using it for 10+ years. don't care for it playing video files, but whatever.
Of course, I do NOT buy music online. I am not giving my money to any of the media corporations. Nor would I ever buy new music from anywhere except from an artist that is selling directly. I'd rather pirate the music and donate money to the band without dealing with the corporate arm that takes most of the money.
If the government wanted me to treat it as a civic duty and not something to get out of, they would pay me enough to live on. $40/day (in my state at least) for two weeks or more is something to go out of one's way to avoid if you're living paycheck to paycheck.
Here's what I do, I'd let people that out of work do jury duty. Times are tough, lots of people out of work, so lets get them working. Let them sign up for jury duty, make a little money to feed them and their family, while they try to find a proper job. That way they don't disrupt other peoples work, when we have people willing to do ANYTHING for money.
Granted my idea isn't perfect and would need ironing out, seems better to have people that would be happy to be there making a little money then people who are pissed off because they have to take a pay cut to do jury duty.
People get the government they deserve. If you can’t take time out of your life to ensure that we have a civil and just society, don’t expect society to be civil and just.
Oh, and vote next Tuesday.
If i register to vote, then I might get asked to do jury duty, and people are saying they don't want morons in the jury box...
Yeah, because if I were on trial, I'd want a bunch of morons on the jury. Only idiots brag about getting out of jury duty. The idea is that you approach it as a civic duty and you hope to hell your jury members do too if you're ever on trial.
lol, okay, there is 1 thing I do not ever hear about jury duty, that is people do it for civic duty. I hear people bitch because they have to take time off a job that pays considerably more per hour then jury duty. Which generally means they want to get it over with as fast as possible. Swift justice? No, willing to go with the majority, even if they don't feel like it's the truth.
Or worse, you get old people who are out of touch with modern life and making decisions based on how they think things should be, not on how it really is.
The implication is that Romney would "do different". Just because this is an executive branch function doesn't mean Romney would step into the office, find and review this case and personally put a stop to it.
After all Obama road his last campaign on "Change" and he just ended up giving us more of the same crap that's been around.
Romney isn't any different, he bows to the corporations, just like Obama does.
Where does he say that? He says that if he can see the drivers eyes, he knows that the driver can see him. If he can't see his eyes, he simply doesn't know whether or not the driver can see him. He does not categorically state that if you can't see the driver, the driver can't see you.
His 4th sentence says it. and i quote: " If you can see its eyes, it can see you. "
Seems sort of stupid to me to put generators in a basement, considering that your on the coast, surrounded by water, and hurricanes like to come thru every now and then. Maybe this doesn't happen all the time, I don't know. I live on the west coast. I just have to worry about volcano's. (and I don't worry about volcano's).
Maybe you'd understand better if you learned where to use a fucking apostrophe.
Look at the whole French Newspaper/Google debacle that's going on right now. It's a direct symptom of socialism. That's what you get when everyone is entitled to a cut of everyone else's work.
The more you peeps post bashing socialism, the more it sounds like a good thing. It's like the corporations are so afraid of people turning to socialism, they go around reminding us that is what they are afraid of.
We get more people bashing socialism then we get people suggesting it. Maybe there is something to this socialism idea after all...

There was a profound and significant bias towards looking early and often at the eyes of humans and humanoids and also, critically, at the eyes of monsters.
Makes sense. There's a survival advantage whether you're predator or prey, it doesn't matter if you can see it, it's whether or not it can see you. Being able to see its head, claws, or gelsacs is useful, but the thing that gives you a survival advantage is knowing whether or not it can see you. If you can see its eyes, it can see you. (The converse - if you can't see its eyes, it can't see you - does not hold unless you're a Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal.)
Car Analogy: Same as if you're driving on the highway past an 18-wheeler. If I can see the trucker's eyes in the side mirrors, he can see me. (I'll assume he can't for the sake of prudence, but it's possible he can see me). If I can't see his eyes in the side mirrors, it's my responsibility to position me vehicle in such a way that he can see me, and/or somewhere he can't hit me whether he can see me or not.
So you are saying that if my eyes aren't meeting your eyes, I can't see you? That is so wrong on many levels, I can't believe you said it. Just because something doesn't make eye contact, does not mean it doesn't see you. Unless you are just eyes, then maybe. But your not. In fact, your eyes are very small compared to the rest of your body. You might want to rethink what you said in case you ever need to hide from people. Covering your eyes with hands doesn't make you invisible.
Sure, when I was a kid, I'd get it once a year usually, for a day. Never longer. Haven't had it in like 20 years. Not sure what that means, but I do know it means I don't need to get vaccinated for it. Which works, because corporations like to get rid of old stock, which is never good for the flu that is currently going around. And they'll charge you also. boom! you just paid for last years flu vaccine.

People are greedy and stupid. Always.
You don't need a nuclear bunker design to weather even a 180 mph hurricane. Less dramatic design techniques have been around a while.
I think they call them cellars...
As soon as my daughter is born, I'm gonna name her Curiosity. Thereafter, our boy will be named Mars, so she can roll all over.... Oh, wait.
Families that play together, stay together...
Do terminally ill witches get to die with dignity too now or do they still get hanged?
Hanged? We burn witches in these parts. Tie them up to stake, and bust out the smores. Witch burning tonight!!!

I for one welcome the new lava monster overlords!
But if they are just doing this: http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/ellie-krieger/maple-glazed-walnuts-recipe/index.html all they need is some salt...

Ya, someone should kill all beavers.
have fun hacking a OS that few want to run
Yep, it's bad news for the those 10 people that use it...

Then we could say ya, we downloaded your songs illegally, and from this day forward, if we do it, we'll pay you $1 per song.
