I've never really looked it up, but how much enegry does it take to make a battery. It would not suprise me if it took more enegry to make a battery then it would ever hold in its lifetime, can someone prove me right or wrong in this.
Also batteries are filled with all kinds of nasty things. Acids, heavy metals, catching on fire or melting, batteries have downsides.

Good, Now its your job to make 250 Million Americans smarter (screw the rest of the world right). If people were smart about things there wouldnt be all kinds of things... scams happen outside of your computer too. So, because your such a smart mofo go change the world.
P.S. Just like the spyware companies make money off of dumb people, so do I. A very good living can be made backing up peoples files, removing spyware and viruses, installing programs as such. Businesses especially like good running computers.
I attempt to inform, if others dont want to listen, I get a good hourly rate.
Yeah, but bullets generally come in boxes of 10 or 20.
Actually 20(rifle) or 50(pistol) round boxes of bullets are most common, I personally cant think of any ammo that comes in 10 rd boxes. A few types of pistol ammo comes in 25 rd boxes too.
Small Edit: Nothing like the sound of a shotgun to make a criminal bug out and shoot you.
In Texas they teach concealed handgun carriers, not to pull/show/threaten with there gun, but to only use(shoot at bad guy) there gun when their life or a innocent thrid parties life is at stake.
I guess the moral of this story is, if you pull a gun, USE it, dont let your attacker take it from you or kill you with his own.
Correct, he was not talking about how much you would get billed by your doctor. He was talking about how much Medicaid pays for a certian type of visit. Therefor what He was saying is because the goverment health insurance pays so little, that you the cash payer gets a much larger bill to make up for lost income.
Think of it as population control in a post-modern society. Its not like someone could not add a GPS + VOIP module to there service in the future, for those that seem to be scared shitless of not being able to contact 911.
I think you have too much invested in telco stock, I would suggest diversifying your portfolio.
Hmm, Using this logic, its smart for the textbook manufactures to actually introduce errors into there own books, that way next year, they can make a new edition, that fixes those errors and introduce new errors, wash, rinse, and repeat.
Actually, your closer to the truth than you may think. The part of software development that people dont see are the versions.99-RC2,.99-RC1,.98,.97 ad nasuem... The customer gets 1.0.
There have been literaly thousands of builds of windows. Very few get shipped to the customer.
The same holds true with the linux kernel. Test kernels,Very few will ever see one of them up and running. Its that way with all software.
Personally, I'd like to see SCO win. Linux is a horrible architecture for personal computing, with it's monolithic kernel and 20 minute bootup times.
It's not recommended to run the full install of Fedora Core on a 486! As for me, im in X in less than 2 minutes, and thats with no optimisation. W2K bootups on the same box are comparable.
P.S. you dont have to compile all the drivers into the kernel, and you dont have to load all the modules at bootup!
1. True, still linux does have a good pile of applications (www.freshmeat.net)
2. Maybe, ever try changing the average users windows desktop even slightly, moving icons, chaning applications names. I would say a majority of the time it ends up in a support call.
3. Er Maybe, Shitty hardware may work in windows, may crash, hell they may not have drivers for the latest version of windows either (some HP printers when XP came out). I think of it as a benefit for linux users... hardware companies that make crappy hardware generally dont make linux drivers, therefor the crappy hardware doesnt get used in linux boxes (think winmodems (or win anything)).
And I will admit that windows has much better 3d graphics drivers, which reinforces point 4.
4. True.
Putting them in an RBL really would encourage them to do that.
Err, You can try that, but I would not recommned it. I think you would quickly find there are not many server out there that you could talk to.
Maybe once X% of the internet adopts some sort of sender verification, an RBL may stand a chance.
Still, spammers would just send backscatter to you through hosts that are permitted to send for a domain, ever see how many 0wn3d windows boxes there are out there.
Where there is a hole, spammers will find it. Too bad there isnt a spammer death sentance.
Huh, since when did spammers start playing fair!. This is about winning, not software political correctness.
Also on the unbalanced dataset, I train my filter with spam corpuses that reflect my what I receive in my email. Many accounts receive 10 spams for every ham. The biggest thing that I've had to retrain on is receipts for airplane tickets, spamassassin seems to think they are spam the first time I receive them, and from the article, they had the same issues too.
Most of the Trolls here on/. dont understand poverty... growing up in suburbs with there yuppie parents, they have not wanted, nor have they hungered. They live like kings, while turning a blind eye to the world that starves around them, but hey, with programming jobs moving to India as fast as they are, they may get a chance to learn!
From my understanding the latest 3ware 9500S-12 cards will support up to 4 controllers. Now thats quite excessive, bandwidth for 48 harddrives would choke any PCI-X subsystem out there.

Think about getting a trackball.

This may 'possibly be a troll' like its been moderated, but really...
/., sorry, I forgot.
" Microsoft products are more vulnerable, despite that Microsoft uses statistics that says otherwise to make you believe otherwise."
Sums it up, why dont the moderators read the articles and moderate based on fact. Oh, this is

Hopefully you know your address at your home before you have to call 911.
Anyway, 'round here, if you dont have time to tell the 911 op' your address, you'll probably be dead before help arrives anyway.
Even more so, I think he just means cheap, fast, standardized, commity hardware.
If you read it without his comment it makes more sense.
"corresponded with the arrival of a PC capable of managing the encode and decode processing in real-time."
With you being in the military, you are pretty much property of the U.S Goverment, they can make you do just about anything they want.
John Gilmore is a 'Free U.S Citizen' not under military jurisdiction. There a major difference.
Hmm, Flamebait from such a low SID.

Sounds like a cool way to get rich to me.
Step three - consider humans have evolved under the suns radiation
Then why do many of us seem to get cooked to a deep red when we stay out in it for over 15 minutes. Damn UV radiation.
At the risk of my Karma, I say this.
You are a COWARD.
Evil people exist because of weakminded like you. People who are controlled by fear live as slaves.
I do feel sorry for your children.
For anybody else, I suggest watching the movie Open Range.

You are correct, its called Apathy. It is one of the most common human traits.
Thats because there not using 'real' guns. Put a little .45ACP in the worlds top 10 spammers, and I do believe you'll see a change start to occur.

Not exactly fair.

Look at the 3ware controllers if you want to create partitions over 2Tb, from what I've seen it supports it rather well.
From my understanding the latest 3ware 9500S-12 cards will support up to 4 controllers. Now thats quite excessive, bandwidth for 48 harddrives would choke any PCI-X subsystem out there.
9500 SATA Controller
I use 3ware 9500S-12 on a dual opteron myself.
