There was showstopper bug in aMSN (and Tkabber) when using Tcl/Tk compiled with --enable-threads option under linux kernels 2.5+. I believe it is not Debian-specific issue. Is it fixed already?
Unfortunately Google implements lesser that 10% of Jabber/XMPP features (excluding their proprietary voip), even offline storage is not realised at this time, not even speaking about s2s, the ability to communicate with people from other servers.
Anyway Google promised to implement s2s one nice day and describe their voice feature specification.
Suppose it would be really great to have a single generic protocol for instant messaging, but if there will be no dictator like Microsoft behind it. This system should be distributed and with opened specifications (as Jabber/XMPP). Clients for it's network should be exist for various platforms, not only for win32 and mac. The ability for running own server is also important.
This framework looks very-vey similar to Django. Unlike TG, Django is all-in-one solution: built-in admin interface, built-in extensible template system, and so on.
...that every small program (Firefox, CUPS, many others) depends on Gnome libraries and there is no chance to avoid it. Still I am an old Debian and FVWM user, but also have tried Ubuntu Live CD on my HP Compaq nx9020 laptop and was much surprised when discovered that hardware suspending works out-of-box. I can't say this feature works in my current Debian GNU/Linux Sarge.
Thanks, Mr. Shuttleworth, I will probably have to backport ACPI changes into my current system and feel happy.
Yeah, its work is still in progress. And in addition to XMPP proto there are JEPS (Jabber Enhancement Proposals), which update more frequently than core.
Once I downloaded and extracted the tarball, I had a problem that my X Window System didn't permit to execute FireFox.
The solution of the problem was to chown the program tree to root.root, i.e:
# chown -R 0.0/usr/local/firefox/

"must include links to competitors"
It's cool if it means that Micro$oft will include links to Mplayer and Psi accordingly!
Please, have a look at http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-jr/.
May be to use NeoOffice instead?
Are there any major changes between RC2 and release?
Hello.
Is it possible to make camera working between to Jabber/XMPP endpoints in gaim-vv?

It seems they recommend just a standalone process behind apache for production setup.

Could this technology be implemented in the Microsoft Windows systems to be more secure than Linux?
FireFox goes with any of modern Linux/BSD distroes. And Opera doesn't!
Yet another cool news: http://sipthat.com/archives/000354.html
The only thing frustrated me -- the number of Release-Critical bugs is not zero! Why is it so? Could anybody give the answer?
I wonder, will the storage counter begin decreasing tomorrow, after April 1-st go away?!
Debian GNU/Linux also has port for PPC, so why to use Fedora's userspace? Are there _real_ advantages of Yellow Dog Linux?

Gaim-like programs such as Miranda are overloaded with features, buggy and eat more memory than a standalone Jabber-client, i.e. tkabber.
It seems to me that the primary Micro$oft's plans for the near future are to invent and patent the wheel.
I have found the answer on this question here.
