  1. I had a NG 3800 for a long time and Avast started alerting to vulnerability thru it's network scan. NG was no longer supporting the 3800, so I used Avast workaround for a bit, but this year upgraded to the NG Nighthawk 1750 AC 6700, thinking that since was supported by NG and relatively newish router, that they had fixed the problem. Lo and behold, same alert came up through Avast. I contacted NG about it and was told that it was a false alert by Avast. Contacted Avast and they told me that NG is lying. Used the firmware patch yesterday and now Avast says my Network is SECURE and no problems. NG can fuck themselves. Is it difficult to flash the DD WRT to this router?(I'll research this myself also). And is there any tips anyone has for me, when doing this?

Control. If they can get this to stick then its a short walk to be able to start taking on and controlling opinion, thoughts, etc. This is progression of a Republic descending into Fascism(from Capitalism then into Crony Capitalism) and then complete Totalitarianism. Power is the ultimate high and as any one who knows about that, knows that over time, with no control or oversight, you have to keep upping the ante to get the high you're looking for. In this case, it's the destruction of our freedoms. Scary times ahead indeed.

Anyone willing to risk getting in that water for this, will get no sympathy from me(like that means anything anyway) when the bill comes due down the line with their health. I don't know how it seems everyone on slashdot has a problem with FF, when mine never crashes, ever and this is with 20 extensions running on it. What does chrome, chromium or any of the others offer better? None has the wide range of privacy, no tracking, etc extensions that FF has. We all know Chrome is spyware and now we've found out Chromium isn't better. Opera is decent but still not as customizable as FF. Palemoon is good if x64 means anything too you. I just don't see anything else better since nothing compares on having extensions running to protect your privacy than FF.

Nearly the same size as Earth, yet no magnetic field and what appears to be occasional whole-crust overturn rather than plate tectonics? Isn't that the one we need to solve?

Well, I think they have Venus figured out. Basically it was like us early on, complete with oceans and land and magnetic field. Back in the beginning of the solar system, the sun was cooler than it is today. As it ages it grows hotter, like in the next 1 billion years the sun will be 10% hotter. Well, as it grew hotter back then, Venus's oceans started to evaporate into the atmosphere, and the H20 became lost to space. Leaving an ever growing thick atmosphere that held in the heat and increased the pressure on the surface. Being closer to sun, as it grew hotter, it also was moving closer to the edge of the habitable zone, which was moving outward as sun grew hotter. Without water on the surface anymore, plate tectonics stopped completely. When this happened, you no longer get a nice moderate release of volcanism, you get trememdous pressure building up and then released in huge amounts all at once probably every 400 million years that covers the planet in liquid hot magma. Also, it looks like Venus got hit hard by another proto planet that unlike what happened to the earth, which was a glancing blow at angle, Venus got hit straight on, slowing down it's spin a lot, It's one of(maybe the slowest), slowest spinning bodies in our solar system. I think you couple that with the lack of water to keep plate tectonics moving, you end up disrupting it's dynamo in the core and you have a very weak magnetic field now. The Earth is going to become Venus as the sun grows hotter and the habitable zone moves out further. It's a long time from now, but it will happen.

They fear what is coming. Resources are running out. Within the next 100 years you are going to see upheaval the world has never seen, due to the size of the world population and it's reliance on oil. As that runs out, food production will be disrupted and with that comes a desperate populace and that is dangerous. Along with Climate Change, you will see nations go to war over what is left and it's inevitable it will eventually go nuclear. The people at the top see this, know this and in their misguided attempts, are trying to setup a control apparatus to protect themselves and hope they can contain things to enjoy the level of comfort they have achieved for themselves. Be glad you're living now, because the next 100 years are going to be bleak and dark. Of course if we ever get the fusion thing to work, we may be able to avert this, but with what we've done to the environment and how the oceans are quickly becoming dead zones, I think the future shown in the movie "Soylent Green" is going to more of guide(referring to environment not really the eating of people) than a work of fiction.
