Or you can just drag the songs to a new playlist every 7 burns, delete the old old, and get 7 more. Like I said, it only makes it less convenient.

  4. Re:funny you say that on CDs May be Less Immortal than We Thought · · Score: 1

There's a limit to the number of times you can burna specific PLAYLIST to a CD. You can burna given song as many times as you want, but if you want more than 7 copies of a certain CD, you'll need to re-create the playlist. All that rule does is make it more of a pain for someone to burn copies of his iTunes songs for his entire school.

It is not a DRM issue.

Thing is, as the graphics get better, so do our abilities to discern between them and real life. When I first saw the old man from the Final Fantasy movie I couldn't have told you it was fake; however, I could say the same thing about the first Tekken PS2 showcase. Now, both are easy for me to tell from real life.

The story got mentioned on Slasdhot, MyAppleMenu, and Spymac... it's gotten plenty of coverage. I never never that site existed until this article. Its sole purpose, I believe, was to get Slashdotted.

And by the way, Apple is dying. ;)

If the RIAA paid M$ (And I'm sure they do) M$ might use this to scan your computer for copyrighted music. And so on. This is "trusted computing"... As in, he RIAA can trust my computer, not me.

I trust my own damn computer. If I want to store hundreds of illegal documents on an encrypted disk image, I'm confident it won't send the password to Apple or the government. I know it won't be hacked into because it uses RSA's proven encryption. It's MY computer, and if I want to use it to do things that industry X doesn't want me to do, then you'll have to be a little more clever than scanning my hard drive to catch me.

If Microsoft wrote their own encryption scheme (and maybe they have) I wouldn't trust it with anything.

  18. SuperG = yech on Projected 'Average' Longhorn System Is A Whopper · · Score: 1

Please, please don't recommend SuperG. It clogs the already crowded 2.4GHz band... as has been noted on /. before.

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, then you pretty much have that band to yourself. But for the same reason people don't play loud music, eventually using this much of the unlicensed spectrum will be taboo... at least, I hope so.

My point is that now that 10.4 is about to ship

Well.... no, it's not. It'll be at least 6 months, probably more.

Finder is the top listing. So, you couldn't find files before? No tool to help you seek what you are looking for? Yes, yes there was. What does this top listed improvement give me? Hint: Pretty Icon layout. How much was that worth?

Actually they did vastly improve the Finder in Panther - and none of the improvements had anything to do with the icons (except for the colored labels). Off the top of my head, there's a new, highly convenient sidebar, and Folder Actions allow you to attach an Applescript to a folder any time something happens to said folder, which is really cool (and useful).

The improvements to Mail aren't eye candy - the biggest one, organizing email by discussion, is really nice, similar to what Google's webmail gives you, only in a desktop app.
