    Enlightenment and EFL seem to have some great tech, but as far I've ever seen no one of consequence bases their distro around it or uses it for development and I can't figure out why that is.

    Several years ago on April fools slashdot changed it's entire colour scheme to a pink my little pony type theme and I beleive had the words omigodponies displayed on the site, possibly in place of slashdot. It's generally regarded as slashdot's best April fools joke.

    I see nothing wrong with the $10 million figure. Companies have used the DMCA to try to recover "damages" of ridiculous proportion in the past (RIAA as our most favorite). Why shouldn't the DMCA work for consumers in the same fashion? In which case, the $10 million figure seems just as "reasonable"

    I purchased a palm z22 about 6 months ago for keeping track of dates and contacts as well as reading ebooks. Though the it currently lacks ebooks, my next PDA is without a doubt going to be an iPod Touch, see ya Palm.

    According to Oxford literature is defined as "written works, especially those regarded as having artistic merit.". A good story regardless of writing style in my opinion definately qualifies as having artistic merit. To say that Harry Potter series have no value as literature is incorrect. The ultimate power of language is to communicate ideas, which can be achieved without the need for metaphor, similie, symbolism, etc. The Harry Potter books, may not be an allusion to World War II or a covert critique of McCarthyism, but they should not have to be. Rowling's writing may be simpler, but a three dimensional film is not necessarily better than a 2 dimensional film. Is the Harry Potter series one of the pinnacle of literature? Certainly not. Does it deserve to considered great literature? Yes.

    It's a fascinating, vast universe and a compelling story by a brilliant *storyteller*; on the other hand, it doesn't have the textual beauty and pleasurable reading experience that truly great *authors* achieve.

    Well that doesn't sound like meritless, condescending, elitism at all.

    Well if you sold that software yourself and continued to sell it then yes, you would continue to get paid for it. Artists are essentially in this case their own private software companies who sell their own software. If want to get paid like an artist does then start your own business.
