FTFA: As is its custom, the court gave no explanation for turning down petitions from Amazon and Overstock.com Explanation is, more money got put into the lobbying coffers of the side screaming "Yes!Yes! More glorious cash!"
IBM calls it "cloudbased analytics" in it's report but I find it a bit creepy that IBM has data from "800 US retail websites". I suppose just counting request headers on a reverse proxy could do it, but having data from Pinterest and Facebook, as well as how many push notifications retailers sent, seems beyond simple methods.
Maybe aggregate a wealth of information on people for whatever purposes the highest bidder may pay. But then again, NSA and Marketing would have no need for any of that so I'm probably wrong.
I'm sure visiting the US is the only thing He's been able to think about since being holed up in that embassy. Bet he can't wait to experience that fresh Walmart smell and glue his brain to the red ticker on Fox News again. AND, since the US has such a world renown affection for whistleblowers, I'm sure he'd be perfectly safe. He should really take this deal.
"This show traces the important role that beer has played in human history from the probable origins of the first beer at the dawn of history to the development of a special beer for use in zero gravity space missions."
The task was simple. Make a friggin website that takes user input and spits out insurance options. If this happened where I work, they'd fire the whole lot without question. Probably enact some kind of legal investigation as to where all the money went too.
If Congress can't handle a simple friggin website project, it's time to clean house and Enact term limits. Restructure the entire congressional seating process, and give people more control over who's buying the laws for us. It's time to change that whole mess.
They just want money, so they say there will be some sort of catastrophe... I, for one, want absolute iron-clad proof
Dude, I can't believe that actually got modded insightful. Science is all about extrapolating a "best guess" prediction based on the data you have at hand. There are no "ironclad" guarantees about anything. If I have a room full of scientists telling me sh#t is going to hit the fan unless something is done, always give them the benefit of the doubt. They are much more educated in the topic.
Because Shop classes will teach you a skill which isn't connected to a sales force of marketing drones. Besides, once you learn how to use a table saw and glue clamps in woods class, you can build on that foundation to create irregardless of where you buy your wood or glue. That's not the case with Microsoft.
Maybe Texas wasn't actually looking for drunks. It sure is a handy way to create a DNA database tied to license plates tied to name, address and ssn#. I'm sure they disposed of all that data aftewards however. Right?
People are really bad at understanding statistics.
You give them too much credit. A good portion of the population _chooses_ ignorance over logical and rational conclusions. The only explanation is that when it comes to educating oneself, many people say it's "too hard" which basically equates to "I don't f#cking feel like it". (other factors, such as blind fundamentalism, is another matter)
I'd push for some sort of body-mounted camera as well. Maybe have the video synced with ACLU servers on the hour. There have been far too many circumstances in the recent past where (some) Cops have abused the imbalance of power, made up their own interpretation of the law, and bullied, beat, robbed, raped or killed people just because they are cops and nobody will challenge them.
The "Good cops", who are not ego-manical f#ckwads, should be pushing for this also. You guys are getting a bad image due to a handful of criminals working in your department.
No, not really. In security, you don't have infallible trust in a system which isn't verifiable -- which means, just because Yahoo says they are doing transport encryption in their data center doesn't automatically make that system trustworthy. You need proof that they have done what they said. Otherwise, it's just their word.
Secondly, Yahoo's biggest problem is the data laying on the disks. They can encrypt the traffic all they want that doesn't do anything for the mail stores on disk. Ms. Mayer is basically throwing a bunch of pointless acronyms that mean "we do HTTPS". Big whoop.
The biggest threat to most Gov. agencies is malware*. If the Pentagon can't protect itself, I don't see how other gov. agencies can.
On another note, the fact that TFA labels Snowden+Russia as a "potential threat from Russia" there is enough bias in the article to ignore the illegal activity of the NSA. If the NSA had been operating within the letter of the law, Snowden would have nothing to leak, Russia no need to give asylum, and NYT wouldn't be publishing an article worrying about 1960 spy technology.
Is more focus on humanity and less on capitalism. What's wrong with spending $20B to benefit people who can't afford to spend $20? Especially when $20B isn't even a drop in the bucket to your collective wealth.
We need the 1% to start acting more like the tiny speck of life that they belong to in comparison to the scale of the very large and perhaps unpopulated universe -- wIth interests to coincide with that. Living for your wealth and greed only goes so far in the large scheme of things.

TSA Misery Map
Just add the green and red together and multiple by anal probe.
what is their business plan?

"I invented it."
Not enough for the jurors, apparently.
Don't know that I'd fault social media for an asshat on a power trip.

How is getting an MCSE any more or less useful

I can finally get that Red Ryder BB gun and Mom will have no argument!
what's the rationale behind giving them benefits?
Politics and business is the primary business of politics
Windows 8, an USB memory stick is automatically powered down if it is mounted
Yeah, but in reality it gets it wrong half the time and closes Firefox instead.

Maybe it's simply HTTPS, but is that good enough?

Also: Congress is working on this issue.
That's good to hear. I was afraid the issue may otherwise be left to a group of incompetent, self-serving asshats.
what you ultimately will do with all that toxic spent fuel.
Weaponize it. Which, incidentally, is why we can't have nice things like Thorium reactors.
