    Tanks for example are quite protected against nukes, and our vastly superior engineered bodies will not have much problems with nukes unless one goes off right by you (get better implanted radar!).

    I can think of a few downsides to having a metal, indestructable body. For example, the sex probably wouldn't be as good.

    Fast cars can be efficient too.

    I get about 26mpg highway which is fairly good for a V8.

    Sure I could have gotten one with 40mph highway with half the power, but that doesn't really work for me. And I never complain about gas. I have to go places regardless of how much it costs. If I don't work then I will have way less than whatever I would have saved on gas by not going to work.

    I'm guessing there won't be an external port on any of the machines with a label "insert server spoof machine interface cable here" so you would probably have to take apart the machine to access some kind of internal port, assuming it has any ports at all.

    Unfortunately casino security would probably find attempting to dismantle the machine a rather suspect activity.

    My parents had the same "discussion" with me, and they also decided to put in a filtering program on the family computer so no boobies slipped through in case I *cough* accidentally *cough visited one of those sites. Unfortanately they were too technically inept to install and set up the program, so they had me do it for them. ;)

    If I tell you negative information, you'll know less.

    I don't think that really works. You can't make someone know less by just telling them something, unless by doing so you somehow alter their brain chemistry to store less information or remove information already stored. I suspect this might be closer to the quantum idea.

    Suppose you have two pieces of quantum information, one positive and one negative. The negative piece could negate the positive one which would result in 0 total pieces of information instead of 2.

    However, the idea of this negative information is still kind of abstract and not that easy to understand. The quantum nature of this is key I think. It doesn't look like it extends that well to our concept of information (which would be the kind stored by the brain), at least not yet.

    It is already very east to tell the junk files from the good ones. The junk ones will come from a very limited IP range. What usually happens is that the *AAs, and the companies they hire to pollute the networks will use the entire IP range they own to do that, but that usually still only amounts to a few class Bs. The good files on the other hand will come from all different class As.

    The server itself will run an OS based on a managed code environment, making remote attacks difficult if not impossible.

    Unless of course the server runs an MS OS, in which case it will actually open you up to attacks from all of the different types of devices interacting. ;)

    But seriously, I'm not sure this managed code model is the answer. At the very least it needs to be designed very well. I could see it being very restrictive for a lot of legitimate uses. And I think having a model where the OS has to approve code before it runs opens the door to monopoly leveraging, unfair treatment, unauthorized runtime limitations, and a whole host of other undesired behavior.

    GCJ still only provides limited support for Swing. I don't think it can be said that it has "come of age" until that support is there in a form that at least remotely resembles javac.

    Windows is sort of a GUI version of the Mac's operating system, and Linux is of course Unix, which stems from 1968.

    Huh?

    Since when has the Mac operating system not have a GUI or since when has Windows been more GUI like then the Mac OS.

    Also the Mac operating system has a heck of a lot more in common with both Linux and Unix than is does with Windows. In fact if you want to say anything about comparing GUIs, it would be far more accurate to say that the Mac operating system is a GUI version of unix and Windows is a GUI version of DOS.
