    Ok I tested that beta but it only gives about a 2x speedup.

    If I look at my cpu while viewing my company's homepage which has a large flash animation, I get the following results on OS X (imac 27" 4x core i7).

    10.0: around 150% (1.5 cores)
    10.1: around 75-80%

    So, while an improvement this hardware acceleration doesn't really change the fact that flash on the Mac still sucks. It shouldn't take 80% of your CPU just to view a webpage.

    Well you also have the issue that a lot of the political information on the internet is bogus.

    If you took an internet poll vs a scientific poll, you'd probably find that in the internet poll people would be substantially more likely to believe that US astronauts never landed on the moon or that Barack Obama was born in Africa.

    As long as the userbase remains as large as it is, that means leaving a lot of money on the table for many developers.

    As sucky as the terms are, it's hard to walk away from that.

    I've lost count of the number of times I've seen this pattern in the last few months/years, especially as it relates to the iPhone OS devices.

    1. Apple does something really dumb
    2. They get bad press for it
    3. A higher up at Apple goes "yeah, now that I think about it, that is really dumb"
    4. Apple reverses the policy to something not dumb

    It seems to me that maybe Apple should look at how they are formulating these dumb policies and see if they can get it right the first time.

    Now before I get modded down by the fanbois, let me just say that I own an iMac and an iPhone and generally like Apple products. Yet I simply have to admit that it seems they've had a serious injection of dumbness of late.

    The whole question seems kind of silly because there is another source of radiation people are exposed to every day that is far more likely to cause cancer...the sun.

    You have a much higher likelihood of developing cancer from UV light than from microwaves.

    Considering the prevalence of Marxism in colleges

    Giving up the nonsensical ideas of my parent's religion had nothing to do with the political persuasion of my college professors. In fact I only took 1 maybe 2 classes where anything political even remotely came up since I was there for CS.

    What it had to do with was that I learned to think critically and objectively evaluate things, rather than simply accept dogma a priori because it was given to me by an authority figure.

    Well, I can't speak for anyone else but myself, but it definitely worked for me.

    My parents are hardcore religious nutcases. They believe that God created the world 6,000 years ago, that Jesus will return within their lifetimes (which fosters a lack of work ethic, since they think God is coming to take away their problems soon), and that Sarah Palin should be president. That is how I was raised.

    After 6 years of college at a somewhat respected research focused school, I no longer believe any of that nonsense and I have successful employment in a good paying job.

    Well, if you are a US citizen, adding in a foreign country anywhere in the chain of evidence makes intelligence gathering much more difficult.

    If the feds want to use Google against me, it's rather easy if all my searching is on Google.com. The FBI (A US agency) can just send a NSL to my ISP (A US company) which will be obliged to turn over my IP address, which they can send to Google (A US company) in another NSL and oblige them to turn over my search history identified by my IP address (located within the US).

    Encryption masks the content of what you are transferring. You still have to know who to connect to.

    Yeah I mean, that's really not a surprise. The torrent would be pretty useless if you couldn't connect to the other clients on it. And to connect to them you need to know the ip address.

    Some torrent clients have a handy browser that lets you view the IPs of all connected clients.

    Now, connecting to all torrents on the net would take some effort, but if you were able to do that then you would be able to see everyone using BitTorrent.

    pretty much.

    I rarely cheated in my CS classes, but on some really hard assignments where I just had to reuse code for some sections to avoid going insane, I just copied some code and then made it look different by changing all names, sometimes rearranging order of things, etc but still having it do the same thing.

    Good, maybe we'll actually get a decent ruling on it this time. If Walker should be disqualified from ruling on this case because he is gay, then all religious bigot judges would have to be disqualified as well, and we've had plenty of them rule on gay issues.
