It took me two months to decide what laptop to buy? I researched and researched what was Linux-compat via linux-laptops and what laptop had what I desired. It is not linux or FOSS problem, it is the manf. Do your research before you buy...if you buy a laptop for $1, will that is what you get...a laptop is an investment...treat it as such.

Dont know about RH*, because they are just to exspensive right now and it is all hands on now, so it should be hard.
Dont forget the network+, security+ which is the ones I am after now. If you actually study and pass, well the cert will not guarantee a job, but they will guaranttee that you learn something. I look at them more as goals, because face Computer Science books are more or less boring as hell. I got Bachleor in Math and CS, let me tell you there is nothing more boring than CS, but I love this shit....so I find it interesting. It is not that the material is boring...it is the authors. Start with Linux+ and work your way up.
I was implying that RHEL is for servers. Fedora is their test bed. That does not mean that FC will not work just fine as server. I am sure it will run about anything you want and just as stable. I have not had any complains. However the docs say Fedora is for basically beta release and you should treat as such, instead of trolling, like the people who complain about cell phones not being phones anymore but PDAs. I just hate it went people make obvious comments or just say stuff without thinking. I think Fedora is kickass, works great for me. As far as one choice being gone, I think that to is not correct. From techinical stand point, it never was a choice. RHEL is great thing in my opinon the turnover is lot lower.

Comparing Debian to Redhat is like comparing oranges to apples. They are both fruits and that is about it. I personally like YUM, but I am not going to rant on how I hate apt. Debian has its users and Redhat theirs. If everyone used apt then why dont we use the same distro....there is probably not a techincal reason for using YUM except it is not APT.
We as consumers like options. Why should I not be able to choose to install IE, File explorer, Windows media player, and all that other software that comes with windows.
Why does Microsoft not give us the options to strip out components that comes with standard installation much like Linux does? Linux is modular and thus more flexiable. I dont want my staff surfing the net on with IE or watching movies on it. And you cannot say, "Well they should not be doing that." It is just like the moon or Mt. Everest, since it is there we had to climb it.
One last question? Why dont you have a robust command line inferface or something other than telnet?

Lets start at around $2000 a box....is that what you mean.
What makes linux powerful is all the different distros. Take a car for example, if all you want to do is drive to and from work then buy an old Ford escort(good luck with picking up chicks). I want the ability to chose, I drive a 4x4 suv, becuase it has the options I want and is packaged differently for me(it does not have all the options..but I add from different vendors..XM, alpine radio). 4x4 is not included with escort, more space, and v-6 supercharged engine, roof rack. Does any other OS give you these options? If you want one exe to do it all, then where is the innovation.
The terminal, this is what makes linux better than windows or gui os. Once a person gets proficent at using the terminal, everything is faster and everything is simpler. Also, anything that can run in terminal and be transformed into a GUI. Linux is not for everyone yet, but it will be soon. Your compliants will be heard, that is what distros are for...if enough people feel the way you do...someone create a distro for the masses...Just think before you speak..or ask it as a question.

If we the goverment would build enough nuclear power plants across the country and lease them at a very low cost to energy companies, we could then feasible have low energy for homes, companies, and automobiles...We will never have hybrid cars if we dont use nuclear. Windmills can only do so much. I think the far left is valid point, but big oil is more the problem. Money talks especially in Washington. ANyone that says Nuclear == kill enviroment is a moron. If you would rather dig holes in the ground and flood our oceans with oil, then you are a hypocrite. Nuclear power is the only option we have right now....I am for 3 eyed fish...vote Burns for 2008.
