Archos phones seem to come with all sorts of malware either preloaded or pushed over the air. You cant even turn off "other sources ". The settings app which obviously cant be removed keeps switching it back on. Sophos even detects it as malicious but cant do anything about it.
Real shame because in the early days of Android it looked like Archos were doing everything right.
I don't think its a licence thing - I think it's an insurance thing.
Tesla provide crash insurance if their software causes an accident. That insurance does not cover the software acting as a Taxi service. If you want to provide a Taxi service you need insurance to cover it. Which they are saying "will come" - but they do not have yet.
I was talking more about the upstream providers vs the fight for developer time. while there are lots of users on windows - the vast proportion of developers are on either linux or mac as their primary machine.
Linux has dominated server space for a long time. It is now also dominating the machines used by developers.
Windows only = windows only developers = very limited number of developers willing to develop for your platform.
So "Manufacturers that only supply software that works on Windows and not under WINE" Are manufacturers that reduce their developer pool to such a small number of developers they will face pretty much guaranteed failure in the not to distant future.
linux is an awesome platform. the problem we are seeing here is game studios (EA Im looking at you) only releasing games for terrible computing platforms.
I was going to ppst that steam cant possibly get any worse. But it sounds like you have had a different experience (never used windows store, and zero interest in ever doing so)
How on earth do you use it? Ive tried 4 or 5 times over the years to get anywhere with it, and every mouse click on the god awful ui seems to take an age to respond.
actually. they were a highly socialist party. part of the confusion in calling parties left/right wing. is the us and uk use left/right wing to indicate how much a party targets its policies to looking after the lower classes (left) and upper classes (right).
and europe uses left/right wing to indicate how authoritarian parties are in implementing policies for the lower classes, since they mostly executed all the upper classes over the years.
vw didnt make the claim they were low emissions. the uk government regulatory agency did.
it was the agency that certified them that made false claims. not vw. vw just submitted a car for the agency to access.

Don't think that is anything unusual.
why would anyone restrict their definition of developer to Visual Basic for Applications specialists?
and restrict "software title" to "stuff made by Visual Basic for Applications specialists"?
They were never real software developers in the first place.
Well, if you want to have this conversation in the form of asking questions...
The top ten software titles of 2016 were first released on an OS which is:
a)A Windows derivative
b)A Unix derivative
Alternatively:
How many of the top ten software titles of 2016 were "windows only"
->I don't see any evidence that most developers have left Windows
Wow... Have been been asleep since the launch of windows phone?
Mind you, I guess Cobol developers didn't notice the decline of their platform either.

IMHO
As we've seen with the PIC vs Arduino war.
Its the manufacturers that don't support linux that will lose out.
The problem with supporting userspace and not dev space is your userspace ends up empty.
How do they tell the difference between a hd video streaming over https and a large file downloading over https?
thats just a relationship map thing.
several people in your contacts list are connected closely to them and in a similar field.
that applies to all their suggestions. you just only recognise and therefore see the ones you actually recognise.

Network booted usb reader that mounts the stick as an nfs share.
problem solved.
Olympics? I thought they cancelled it because zika.
Does that mean its worth taking a trip to London to watch some people run around jump and throw stuff? when is it?
oh nevermind, seems i just missed it.
And nothing of value was lost.
I'm sure they would rather of said nothing at all, except the typhoons going supersonic kinda attracted attention.
typical classified speak, better say nothing at all than tell the truth and get everybody riled up for war.
At least until the elites decide its time for a war. then they'll say anything to get people excited, even if it's not true.
since others posted many more for you. seems a lot better than whatever trash you've been reading.
mix it with a bit of offgaurdian and well rounded reading I'd say.
every couple of months atm.
last one was in may iirc.

aaiui the f35 is designed to fly with drone accompaniment.
the one pilot controlling drones taking on roles like long range comms, target aquisition etc.
impossible to stay stealthy and talk over long range.
so the plane talks with a narrow beam to a drone flying with the plane a few miles away, and any aa targets the drones rather than the f35.
They already do.
What the OP misses is this targets the exchanges.
But desperation would be a better description.

because Slashdot is now thirds or fort in line for witing comments, and the only plaice that doesn't offer the functionality.

Because installing the 32bit version of skype requires installing over a gig of 32 bit libraries many of which are past end of life.
Any sign of 64bit yet?
We pretty much ditched skype because of the lack of 64bt linux suppport.
if it wasnt guccifer, i wonder how RT had copies of Hitlerys emails in 2013 then.

But still. I don't see anything that any normal dev would miss being de prioritised and oracle devs being put on "other things".
So why is oracle getting such "bad press" for doing exactly that?
