i've canceled my cable tv in favor of just buying whole seasons (on dvd) of whatever shows i'm actually interested in.
also recently, (as of last night) i finally decided to connect my computer and the tv. it about as easy as connecting a vcr. i'm on a mac, albeit a 3+ year old titanium powerbook, it does seem particularly well suited to this purpose.
the dvd's combined with whatever i have on my computer (podcasts, adult swim fix), make for a much more satisfying 'tv' experience. i am however, paying a lot more for it, considering.
ah yes... i've heard of them, but haven't listened to very much of any of them. i think at the time i was introduced to them, i was listening to röyksopp, sigur rós, and mogwai...
i know i'm probably not going to be seen this late in the slashdot comment game... however, i'm working on a web application specifically for managing your real world media... it's not very old, a month or so, along, but if you're familiar with folksonomy for organizing, i think you'll see that it does afford you more flexibility.
i haven't added on bar-code support yet, but it is in the works.
holy christ... $1200/mo in food isn't enough for one person? or just not enough for the average slashdotter?
what does that break down to? $40/day?
where do YOU do your grocery shopping? steakhouses?

they're not bugs, they're features.
some guy hardware hacked a powerbook, replacing the internal hard drive with a 32MB compact flash card. :)
:D
now to find someone who's done that with titanium powerbooks and larger flash cards
