I'm really tired of these gamergate bullies threatening violence every time someone suggests that there are other markets and demographics for which games can be marketed.
I'm really confused on why people are the least bit upset. Bringing games to a wider audience seems like a good thing for the game industry and gamer culture.
Like CEOs of pharma companies or their loved ones don't get diseases for which they wish they had a cure.
My takeaway from this article is be pragmatic and stop praying for a miracle and start investing in treatment as well as a cure.

I just bought a EeePC 901A with the dinky 4GB SSHD and I couldn't be happier. I'm using the Base version. I still have a little over 25% free space after a few multimedia tools and OpenOffice installed. Runs with my Verizon USB EVDO connection, too.
When businesses are so stupid to the point that it becomes a threat to a nation's survivability, then yes you should tamper with them.
If you are in constant search for cheaper and cheaper labor, then you eventually end up with unemployment domestically, and wages so low internationally to the point that no one can afford to buy your product.
Supply and demand. Hire people and give them a livable wage and you create a larger demand. Keep farming out labor as cheap as you can get it, and you reap what you sow. Kind of like what's happening now.
It's not hard, really. Just too bad the people who aren't in the position to make decisions are the only ones who get it.
FDR did not take us out of the Depression. Japan did that when they bombed Pearl Harbor and gave the nation motivation to start building tanks and planes and ships and bombs non-stop for the next sixty years.
Oh.. and you might want to look under the "provide for the general welfare..." part. That has been used historically as the basis for providing roads and other public services.
So are you suggesting that a child be punished and deprived education because his parents never bothered to teach them manners?

And here I thought that college was just a way to prove you know how to spend an exorbitant amount of money to have someone who isn't actually in the field teach you something you could learn on your own with outdated equipment and concepts.

Work for what? Keeping a consumer informed? What I don't understand is why producers are so against telling us how we get our food. They are opposed to labling GMOs and now they are opposed to telling us that they'll be using cloned animals of which there are far too many of anyway, cloned or not.
It's like "Free range chickens" They just don't put them in cages. Chickens are still overcrowded, just now in a large open space as opposed to a cage. Growth hormones, antibiotics, niether of which needs to be labled either. When I call the companies, they tell me that the feed and medication are trade secrets, so I'm no more informed calling the companies.
I have no trust in the FDA. This will just make my move to being a vegan much easier.
If the market will really decide and you have confidence that your product is safe, then why hide how it's produced?

Hey! I DJ and I HATE the fact that if I BUY a single for a club gig that I also have to strip out the DRM to be able to use it in any DJ software I choose. Thank goodness that someone has removed the restriction of being forced to use their player for the music the I BOUGHT. Now if they can just remove the DRM in the first place, we'd be all set.
If I buy it, it's mine to listen to anyway I see fit. If I want to burn it to a CD and have that transferred to vinyl, I should be able to do that. If I want to play it on any portable music player, I should be able to do that, too.
BTW. This isn't about the right to use content. It's about giving those who want to distribute their own music without a record company a really hard time. Now that you can put a professional grade studio in your basement for $10,000 and release your music on the web, the record companies are fighting for their survival. I say let them die. They've been screwing over artists and their fans long enough. Let's return the favor. I put out a challenge to all artists. Record on your own dollar, promote on your own. You'll do much better for yourself. I also put forth a challenge to fans... support local and independant artists. You'll find it much better and more rewarding than the pre-packaged garbage the record companies are spewing out.

I agree that free-speech is the most important part of the US. But civil disobedience has played an important role as well. Law is not always justice.
I think there might also be some miscommunication. I think that if someone breaks the law, they should be heald accountable, not matter what the motive was.
For example: If I where to deface a billboard and got caught doing it, I would fully expect to go to jail and face the full consequences. I would further exepct to have to pay for the repairs. Would that make me feel any less justified in doing what I felt was needed to be done? No. Would I fight the charges? No.. To do that would be to deny I did what I did, which is the opposite goal of what I was trying to accomplish.
