The coolest invention to hit TV since the VCR and it's not even going to make it to Australia before it dies in the ass. I have been waiting for TiVo to hit down here for the past year and now it looks like that will be never be.
I agree that it is definitely no Utopia. Most sites are run by the same as TV news companies. Until ALL news providers are given equal footing and people can get reliable trustworthy news not just from the major money players - then you have your Utopia. Unfortunately it will be the big $$$ players for some time. Their influence has created wars and made presidents. They don't want Jimmy Grassroots at home writing the news to the same audience that they have spent millions to attract.
It still amazes me that the whole comic book / manga artform is so well respected in Japan. I love Manga as much as the next guy but to see EVERYONE relating to it astonds me. Unless you visit Japan (as I have done twice now) you can't really fathom the impact that this artform has on Japanese culture. The people I spoke to in Japan about it think that what we consider Manga and the Manga we have access to in the west is pretty light weight.
Thanks for the flame but allow me to retort. When the article was originally posted and I made my reply it wasn't apparent what exactly had transpired. You can see from the other posters that this was the case. The new details weren't posted until I had made my post. Now I know it wasn't case of simple domain expiration. You point is valid just a little harsh.
Then what do they expect? While the article is vague as to how it happened, I certainly wouldn't be calling it "DOMAIN JACKING" if this is a case of bad administration and management. Simply, it should heed as a warning to website owners the world over. If you don't renew your domain someone could register it themselves. Even more so for high profile domains.
You know I tried really hard at school but it wasn't for me. But I made some really good friends and we would all like a job when your finished.

They wouldn't have retired it unless they
1. Created a new app that supercedes it or
2. Found another way to retrieve the same information more effectively.
Federal security agencies are kinda funny like that.
But it seems a little fruitless. Physics is pretty heavy stuff and can easily broken down into examples from everyday life. But the real buzz gained from physics cannot really be enjoyed until you start to appreciate the fantastical that might be just around the corner. Transporter technology and replicator technology - while inspired from Trek - are already in the elementary stages of development. These and others are far better examples of physics than rap dancing or falling apples...

Me too! ;)
Like our friend Gentle Ben hasn't inadvertently downloaded spyware like the rest of us.
Wordy and boring.
I don't understand. You get 2 karma points just for replying to me and I can't get any mpoints regardless of how I come across. Bummer
I hear you mate. I cannot improve my /. karma for the the life of me. It's kinda pissng me off actually...
I know, I know. I was going easy on our American friend. They rule the world remember and are easily excitable ;)
That's cool. It rhymes with "singe" as in to burn something lightly.
Whinging is Australian for whining. It means the same thing though... Have you never heard of "whinge"?
and stop your whinging. It's not everyday that /. get's it wrong ;)
I can recommend it but it's latest tools need a little tweaking. The current filters do not decipher quality from quantity.
Q. What is the difference between a catfish and a lawyer? A. One is a scum sucking bottom dweller and the other one is a fish Ta-ta BOOM!
for Miss Congeniality alone. The other two can be written off as misdemeanors with good behavior.

Jesus. I like Apple as much as the next guy but it's a wonder Steve Jobs doesn't take a restraining order out against you.
And...
Or will picking your nose remove the battery?
The sequel is apparently Stallone going head to head with that ubernazi Judge Judith Sheindlin.
Not sure. Last time I saw him he was on his knees on a beach going "Noooooooooooooooooo!"
Technology can sometimes come back and bite you on the Stallone
This reads like any other court decision except it involves 'email'. Is this why it was posted as /. article?
