Something George W could do when he loses his bid for election this fall is start up a survivor type show with inmates on death row, and each week someone new dies. Now that I'd watch.
Simply point out to the NCAA that some student atheletes are getting special discounts because they are coming from an EDU or some such silliness and Amazon will be taken through the ringer. Look what's happening to the guy who gives discounts to everyone at a shoe store in Wisconsin. Gave the same discounts to atheletes and now WI is in prohbation. Think about it.
what they didn't specify is that the 70,000 applications were all copies of the same application in many computer languages. "Hello World" strikes back!
not only do we need more guns, we need fewer airbags, fewer guardrails, no more safety harnesses of any sort, and no medicine. By the way, I *AM* serious. Let a little darwin back in our lives.
we need to do a million mp3 march. everyone bring their laptops and portable mp3 players. It wouldn't even take that many people.:) I'd go.. and I know about a dozen people who would.
I dare you to put people in jail for this nonsense. Our (U.S.) jail system is so overburdened as it is, that it would be ridiculous for an MP3 offender to spend more than a day in any prison for such frivolous "criminal" activity. Convicted murderers get out in as little as 4 years, sometimes less. Fines might be an option, but they will be so outrageous if the RIAA has their way, that many who are caught would simply file for bankruptcy. End result: no fines are ever paid, police are kept from doing real police work, and college kids won't be able to buy a house for 7 years.
We need a million geek march on washington... although with all the technology most of us would bring, it would probably turn into a lan party. It would be fun nonetheless.
While diablo was obviously hack and slash and very straight forward, Quake cannot be placed in the same bin. If you are referring the single player maybe, but 1 on 1 multiplayer is by far more strategic than any hardcore rts or rpg I have ever played.

Lately, rewards seemingly go to idiots. I.e. Who want to be a millionaire.... I can't believe how stupid these people are with such easy questions.
just another device that will be classified as a munition we can't ship overseas. Soon, every electronic item I own will have some form of encryption which will classify me as a threat and allow the FBI to monitor me more closely. each pc/laptop has 3des, palm has 3des (for memopad), pager, cell phone (weak encryption), monitors. What's next? Keyboards and mice? Keyboards I could see, mouse is just plain ridiculous.
hmm 1Ghz, dvd, etc. I think the time that this costs the consumer $149 will be not sooner than 5 years from now. At which point, something better will be available anyways. No mention of 3d chips either.. interesting.
THe majority of the people receiving these PC's will probably be assembly line car mechanics. Do you really think they can figure out Linux/FreeBSD, let alone Micros~1 Windows.
It would be on CNN. Nukes traveled more than 500 km would be reported. Any warheads not travelling that far have not been reported. I.E. the scud missles that were actually launched to test radar.
Would it not be elementary once you are telnetted in to perform a ROM dump? I could think of quite a few who would be very interested in using this to write a DC emulator and save themselves alot of time. Just my 2c,
Raid Over Moscow was by far one of the best games I can remember playing in school.. Did anyone else really get frustrated by how tedious the start of the game was though? I mean c'mon you had to fly your ships (or lives) out of the hangar to determine your overall lives for the game. I must have played that game everyday for months and I don't think I ever mastered that part. You could get good, but the slightest poorly timed thrust and you were screwed.
I'm still waiting for Karate Champ to make a comeback;)

my team's cornerbacks and line backers would be just as fast, but hits would hurt more. :)

It costs a hundred bucks a month in electric to keep my saltwater aquarium happy, I can only imagine if I had to recharge a car every day.

then at least they'd have good tech writers.
I could never own a laptop that looked as dumb as that.
this is yesterday's news which became official this morning. why not change /. 's slogan to old news for nerds.

how can you transfer your whole HD in under one second if you cannot read from it that fast?
Just think.. a stripped down version of Win2k should only take up about 500-700 MB's on that HD!! I can't wait... woo. Yeh my sig is ugly, deal.

for micros~1 to get out of bed with intel is extremely unlikely.
poopie.

Why not run a USB cable directly to the PS2 and figure out a way to use it's processor for distributed or seti. -JP

/. should be using the Pie picture. That'd be more appropriate for the MS articles we often see on here.
